Chronic vs Pipe Cleaner vs Urban Rise

So, after getting next years pow ski worked out, park ski time.  I currently own chronics centermount with 914s.  They are a fine setup, but being a gear whore makes me want something I havent skied.  I can sell these easily and not have to dish out a ton for the new park setup, and was curious with Armada Pipe Cleaners 181, and CoreUpt Urban Rise 182(same as 78mm waisted Dynastar Trouble).  All I need them for is pipe and jumps.  Which of these, or other similar skis, do you guys like best for pure pipe/jump performance, and if not true center, where else is better to mount on these particular skis?  thanks alot.  Feel free to throw in other models, but heres what i dont want: "bro dude just go get some public enemys man they kill bro they are the best dude". NONE of that, only throw in other ideas if you have skied multiple park skis in the 177-182 lengths.  thanks.

The Pipecleaner and the TNK are the best jump skis out there.  Mount anywhere from -1.5 to center and enjoy some fast, stable, and fucking sick skis.

Which is lighter? i remember hearing that TNKs are heavy, but not sure.  Also that is intresting you say that about pipe cleaners being so good at jumps, I have heard people say they arent the best at speeds you need to clear larger jumps(anything 35+).  Also, how much do you weigh, I weigh 160 or so and probably will grow a bit more..  thanks for the feedback.

Who the hell do you get your info from?  The TNK is one of the lightest skis I've been on, and the Pipecleaner is designed to be awesome at high speed, and they are fast as hell.  I use them in Freeway and the last hit is probably 80 feet.  Jacob Wester uses them for big air for a reason.  I'm also 185 lbs, so if I think they are stable then that's saying something.

good to know.  I know the TNK is on the heavier side, because a pair of 180 TNKs is 9 lbs(got from 4frnt's sight), and a regular park ski on the heavier side is about 8.5 lbs, urban rise is less than that, and AR6 and Pipe Cleaners are in the lower 8._ lbs range(im not 100% sure about AR6, but should be similar to PCs which are).  Also that's good to know that your 185, sound like I can't go wrong with either of the two skis.  Out of curiousity, what other park skis have you skied that you say these are a lot better than?

after owning my anthems for a year and half i can say i probably wont buy any other park ski. i have the 171 and weigh 185 (kinda short i know) they are stable on jumps and you can butter for miles.

I have 181 Pipe Cleaners mounted 1.5 back. They are great, just get em. Perfect for jumping.

They are like the AR6, but way better. I think what Armada did with the PipeCleaner was just making an AR6 on steroids. They have an awesome flex curve, stiff underfoot with the perfect flex in tip and tail. They have a race base and if you take care of it rails are no problem. They are durable as Armada skis come, just topsheet chipping on mine and edge cracks from heavy rail abuse lately. Super light, super poppy, super fun. I guess I don't really know what to compare them to, not much else stacks up.

how soft are the tips/tails and where does the ski soften?  i was actually hoping to go to a softer ski that can do more of the slide start to a spin like a lot of boarders do, but also with the twist we skiers are supposed to do.

For comparo, i meant what else have you skied in its long length that you think PCs top by so much>

It's all about swing weight man, the TNK has most of the weight under foot.  That's why they feel so light.  The PC is pretty average swing weight in my opinion- it weighs more, but my TNKs are easier to throw around.  Know what I mean?

ya i do know what ya mean, i didnt know the TNK was that type of ski.  again on the flex of both, how soft is the PC in tip and tail, and what do you think the flex is on the TNK

The PC has an average flex in the tips and they are stiff in the tails.  The TNK is very stiff in both.

Lots of things haha Troublemakers, public enemies, anthems, S3s, P3/4 and I like the PC the best... super fun. You can butter and shit but still hit huge jumps, slay rails, whatever. Plus they are bomb out of the park too.

alright, and how would you rate the flex of PCs?  and did you like trouble makers(since they are the same as urbans)?

also, i saw you are on 175s, why not 181s, and why a further back mount?

175s fit me better when I bought them, and they are mounted Armada recommended. They rip mounted there too, they are meant to be a jump and pipe ski so a center mount isn't really needed.. they spin like nothing. They flex awesomely, the tips are pretty soft and they tails aren't too stiff either, just enough to support big landings. The TMs were sick skis too but I thought they were a little stiff for my liking.

finally somebody mentions TM flex.  i liked the pricetag on the urbans but didnt want to just go buy another chronic.  for the -5 mount, is that where armada says -5 is or where -5 actually is?  remember where armada says center is is actually behind center.  how much do 181 PCs weigh? i like 14 din binders but will probably end up getting griffons to shave off just a tad bit more weight for the ideal setup.  then quiv will be perfect for next year.  i think i am hearing get PCs by everyone that has ridden them....so i guess i have to now over the others =D
