Religion became intertwined with politics.

When religion gains more of a collective feel than just individual faith I think that is when it starts to be used for other purposes.

There are extremes with every religion but muslims can't take a fucking joke. A group of muslims killed a director after he released his documentary about the treatment of women within their religion.

Maybe religitards are just the missing link between humans and apes.

Are you some kind of muslim apologist? I understand that you are trying to stress the point that there are plenty of moderate muslims who don't like to chop peoples heads off. But then there are crazy ass muslims who want to kill all the infidels. Their holy book ordains the murder of infidels( I know the old testament of the bible does too, i'm not christian so I don't care if you wish to bring that up), but that does not mean that all muslims kill infidels, probably very few. Yet the simple fact is that some of the 1.3 billion muslims really want to fuck with the world.

its absolutely absurd that people are so fucking terrified at this point that they are convinced that somehow the muslim faith is worse than any other. there are extremists in any religion, however dont let them represent an entire faith

Perhaps its the media. I do only really hear about muslim extremists. The klan definitely used to be a horrid religious/political group but now they are really nothing. Eric Rudolph was fucking crazy and was raised by neo nazis. The violent fringe of islam is composed of more people than what would make up the violent fringe of other religons. I don't let the extremists be the face of the entire religion in my mind, but enough of them(I have no idea how many) wish to limit my rights through the UN human rights council and their anti defamation laws.

If they got their way a court would have to treat their beliefs as truth, so if I were to say that Mohammed was a liar I would be defaming their faith since it would be considered "truth". Its ridiculous for them and whoever is on their side in the UN to expect the world to treat their beliefs as truth when we have so much debate over something with empirical evidence such as evolution.

The klan still exists though, and is still a problem, as do all the other religious fanatics i mentioned. But as you said, whats better for the media than "MUSLIM TERRORISTS DESTROYING AMERICA AHHHHH".

part of the reason they are pushing for these laws is BECAUSE of that racist mentality. much like the japanese during wwii, and the germans during wwi, communists/russians during the cold war, etc, people have come to believe that all muslims are evil fanatics. perhaps if people would pull their heads out of their asses and realize that, these laws wouldnt be pushed for. (note: i am not advocating that law in any way whatsoever, its a brutal destruction of free speech).

as for the fact its ridiculous that they have that influence on the un, is it really any different than the american government. christian america has an ABSURD amount of power, and we have some insanely religious people in washington. its no better.

They have every right to protest for such laws the way I see it. I think free speech protects even those who wish to limit it.

Here is an interesting article about the extreme section of christianity. It is somewhat disturbing but worth reading even though it is quite long.

I'll throw this one out there, I wish everyone who's religious were the literal, fundamentalist type, no picking and choosing what you want to believe.

At least when people are fundamentalists, it paints a true picture of what the dogmas are all about.

I would ask you to read America Alone by Mark Steyn and it may educate you on the ridiculous beliefs inherent within that religion. In all fairness, Islam is an extremely young religion, and they are still working out the kinks with the fundamentalists and what not. how do you respond to the view/claim that it is the religious moderates that provide for the overall acceptance of the teachings which ultimately are the intolerant extremist views.

 Moderates, who pick and choose what passages are socially acceptable at the moment, are prima facie harmless. But really because they perpetuate the view that attacking someones religious views is taboo, are really responsible for allowing/maintaining the fundamentalits' power to do what they do.

Yeah, it's not a completely serious documentary.  But a lot of the funny things in it are said by the people he's interviewing, when trying to defend their religion to him. It mostly points out the ignorance of people blindly following something that they don't know anything about.

MY OPINION....

The world would be better off without religion because "god" or whoever or whatever you believe in isn't real. It's called science... it has proved it wrong. Have you ever gotten real tripped up on shrooms or any other hallucinogen? It is an extremely spiritualistic experience. I'm guessing religion started over a bunch of people taking drugs and then turning their drug induced ideas into reality.

Hate on me or whatever... I don't give a fuck. MY OPINION. Call it far fetched or unlikely... same with the fact that you believe some dude in the clouds "saves" you.

I agree that anybody can believe in whatever they please... I don't force my views about religion upon anbody, I don't see why so many people try to force their religion upon me aka people coming to my house and trying to "spread the word". Fuck that.. if I cared about your religion I would have gone to your church or place of worship or whatever you want to call it. You don't see me coming to your church with "God Doesn't Exist" signs.
