Computer is acting weird...please help tech wizards

so first of all...any videos online that i watch...no sound works...and i mean...for everything!

youtube doesnt work, ns tv doesnt work, viveo doesnt work...yet msn sounds and itunes still produce sound just as they used to...help?

also with videos on the net...they only play for 3 seconds...then freeze...and i mean EVERY time...on EVERY video i have watched...it tells me the time elapsed, which is always 00:03; if i click the buffer bar(which is fully buffered) it starts to play again at whatever spot...then stops 3 seconds later...i dont get it?

thoughts?

close firefox and then reopen it, or use a different browser for a bit. firefox has a weird problem that causes this

sounds like your flash plugin could be fucked..

if you dont have firefox, try downloading it and trying that..
or go to adobe's site and update your flash

i dont really know, that sounds sketchy..

mac or pc also? because i know on my macbook pro if i have the optical out selected when i open safari, then i take out the optical out, the regular speakers dont work in safari.. so i have to quit the program and open it again

i had that problem with firefox 2, i'm pretty sure that restarting the browser helped, either that or restarting the computer. i haven't had that problem since i switched to firefox 3 though.

im a newb...it was just the browser since i think its been open for over a month, me just adding tabs whenever i need to.

thanks though i wouldnt have thought to do that..i + karma'd the guys that responded...

well for starters...when shit happens, close it down and trying starting it up again :P Then if that doesnt work, try a reboot and see if that solves it.
