Spraying poles

any tips if im cheap and just using spray paint, no primer or anything?

It might just rub off fast if you don't somehow protect it.

sand the old paint off of your pole then use primer spray for base 2 coats then spray color 2-3 coats for best results thats what i do other wise just complete sand your pole down and the aluminum looks cool enough dont waste your money on paint if your not gonna primer it or use a protective coating.

i just straight up painted mine without doing anything first. honestly, they are poles, who gives a fuck. the paint lasted a solid two seasons before it wore off. it's not a "waste of money" to use five dollars worth of paint that will last two years

mine scraped off in the middle section.  right below the handle and the bottom third of the pole still look pretty good.

it's pretty chipped...
just buy a clear coat and do more than one layer of each.

sand paper for texture
a LOT of thin coats. let each one dry in between.
a bunch of thin clear coats. again, let dry in between.

theyll still chip but they last a bit longer than
