Pole straps - yes or no?

Just wondering, how do most pros wear their poles?  Personally I wear them with my hand up through the bottom of the strap and gripping the pole when i'm hitting jumps.  I find it easier to grab and not let go of my poles.  But when i'm hitting urban I don't were straps at all, because I want to be able to drop em.  what do you guys do?

yes. worn correctly. hand through, let it hang, grab the strap.

still left me with a full ligament tear and a broken thumb. i think i might be done with poles in the park.

never. mostly cuz its a hassle to fuck with the straps every time you get off the lift. i just converted recently. definitely lost a pole when i face planted after a small drop into DEEEP powder, which left me in the unique position of skiing knee deep powder the rest of the day with one pole.

I always wear my straps. I hate having to go and collect everything if I fall. I've never had any injuries with straps though.

They are a dangerous necessity of the sport.

Although honestly it doesn't matter if you have straps on or not. Honestly if you let go of it, and you don't have a wicked pole strap. It's going to leave your hands and what are your chances of grabbing it mid trick?

All the pole can do at that point is potentially injure you.

I say fuck pole straps in the park.

Im going to use a different pair in the park from now on.

Cause I do fuck my thumb / wrist up a lot

I think pole straps end up being dangerous and it is pretty rare that I drop a pole when I don't want to let go - it is better if you get your poles away from you during a bad fall.

I personally cant stand em but they do come on handy in deep pow or on the lift if you dont like your freind holding them or putting them under your leg.

i love straps. the dont always hold the pole on though. deff lost one on a cliff. gonna skin back up and look for it once it melts a little.

Pole straps are really up to the indvidual. Personally I wear em just so I dont lose em cuz it is a pain in the ass to have to hike back up and get em. They also seem to give me a little more support when skiing outside the park. but I dont really think they are a necesstiy in the park.

i prefer no poles a lot of the time but when i use them i wear them the way you wear them.

but im not a pro so idk if my input really helps?

i wear mine correctly but it doesnt stop you from landing on it and pulling tendons in your thumb pretty bad from it pushing into your palm.

whenever i can be bothered to stuff my gloves through the straps, i do. but most of the time i just grip them tight and don't let go.

I wear my pole straps in and out of the park. This does happen to me quite a bit though. Almost broke my thumb once but that was just a stupid mistake. If you are careful and know how to wear them, generally you should be fine but accidents happen. More so when you are learning but even the pros or experienced skiers mess up. Just be aware of where your hands are at when you are hitting jumps and rails.

i have hockey grips on one set so thats a no and no for learning things
but like big mountain and genreal carving yes
