this guy knows whats up. i made the exact height so that i couldnt nut myself. the issue was that it was reeeaallly short, so you might wanna consider making a taller one just for the ease of spinning off.
Our problem is (i'm his bro) that we suck at wood working and need a kicker for the rail... the rail is gonna be 20 inches tall. do you guys know were we could buy something for a relatively cheap price?
Thanks
i have a 15 inch high rail and box and a 24 inch high rail and they all work well and i don't nut myself on them....and i'm not the best wood worker either. if your aren't too bad you can just improvise building a kicker and rail and as long as it stands you shouldn't have too much of a problem
i built one came out mad nice... double barrel 10 ft rail.... but i made the mistake of making it close to 3 feet tall, it was building a jump for it in the early season and keepint the jump late in the season.. and id go as long as you can cause shorter isnt as much fun
Knee Height sounds perfect, especially for a summer backyard sesh. In the winter you can always pile it on a snowpile and make it so you have a decent drop off for spinning.
now we need to decide on the length and height of the kicker.
my bro and i are fairly new to building our own features so we dont really know whats good.
Thanks
I think the best thing for a kicker is dirt. That's what I'm gonna go with this summer, I tried the corkboard/wood and it just feels way too flat and awkward. I'm just gonna pack down some dirt really well, cover it in some sort of mesh to keep it from completely mixing in with the snow, then tarp it after each use incase of rain.
and for rail just do whatever your comfortable with. I have a 16-20in and it works perfect, I think I'm gonna make something shorter for summer since it'll be easier to make a nice kicker for it
i am about to build an entire set up.
6.5ft drop in, 9ft slope,16-18 inch kicker, 16 inch high 10" by 12' box, and i already have a 22" by 12' shotgun rail.
i will probably post a step by step "review" of what i did and how it turned out.
look for it in the Build-a-Jib cult.
probably will be done in around 2 weeks, depending on how fast i can get the HDPE for the box...
