Wanna go to Chile?  I dont know about you, but Spring is making us all at Evolve act a little funny.  So maybe that's why we are GIVING AWAY A FREE SESH!

Heres how it works. Go here http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=51806745913&ref=mf and join as a member.  Then go check out the rules a thttp://www.evolvechile.com.  I'll outline some of them below, but read them there just to make sure.

Make an edit of you showing why you deserve to win the free session.  Show video of you falling down and rolling in the snow, ripping it up, or just telling us why you want to come to Chile.  Rules?
  • 45 second to 1 minute video showing us why you deserve the free sesh in Chile! Be creative! Be funny! Stake your claim!
  • The videos do not necessarily have to incorporate skiing or snowboarding.
  • No swearing, nudity or profanity.
  • Videos must be submitted by 11:59pm EST, Sunday, April 19, 2009.
  • Submit your video to freesession@evolvechile.com.

a bit pricey to get there..  cool that you are doing this for the girls.  It should be 2 people though, just cause my chauvinistic thoughts are that girls would be uncomfortable going by themselves?

seriously, check out the SASS camp for a cheaper and, after looking at evolves website, all around better experience. I mean not to completely bash evolve but if I wanted a park camp i would stay in the northern hemisphere for the summer. I was on evolves website and they say no out of bounds skiing. Fuck that. Im going to the southern hemisphere because its winter down there and I want to do some real fucking skiing. SASS not only takes you into the back country, they also educate you. Evolve needs to step up because I still dont understand the point of dropping that much coin to go to south america and ski inbounds, on a much shittier park then you would have on any of the glaciers up north.

If it was a park camp they wouldn't be going to portillo a place with no park.  Sure it's expensive but for 3 weeks of skiing in whole different continent but what do you expect? They also have a 9 day camp thats cheaper then some camps like coc or momentum, and i'd rather go ski a real mountain and powder then park at whislter. I bet they will let the campers go out of bounds in the back counrty but they're just covering their asses by putting that on the website. They guys that run the camp are really nice people who want the campers to have fun in a safe way. I bet evolve will get much better every year. I'll let everyone know how it is after i get back from the 9 day camp.

im paying 2300 and Ill be in Argentina for 17 days, And either way Im saying the SASS camp actually educates you on back country safety and thats a big part of their program SASS > Evolve as of now

i think you mean 3200, And i guess you're right, as of now seeing as this is the camps first serious year. But for the future we shall see.  I'm sure people will have fun either way at the camps.

no i meant 2300, if you paid before jan 1 that was the price. you will have fun either way it is skiing in the summer, but as a program SASS shits on evolve imho.

Not to bash on SASS.  I know Travis the head guy personally.  He buys alot of gear from our shop and we talk alot.  I was offered a position to help with SASS and for a brief time told kids to go there a few years ago.

The problem with out of bounds in South America is that it is nothing like up here.  The avy control is shotty at best.  Head on over to TetonGravity.com and check out the forums...do a search of SASS and see what comes up.  There was a large incident last year involving a SASS group, and a large almost fatal slade.  Safety is key and thats why we have our out of bounds policy in place.  Short of hiring expensive local guides (which would drive the price up) the best way to keep YOU safe is to not put you in an overly risky situation.

Plus, there is so much snow in Chile, you don't have to go out of bounds to get it.  SOO much more than Argentina.

I don't see the point in this argument. Are you trying to say SASS doesn't take responsibility of their campers. Because Ive been down there and safety is definitely a big part.

And how is out of bounds in  south america different than up here? there is no avy control in either....its out of bounds. and do you realize a lot of in bound avy work in south america is sketch to begin with so even in bounds has its dangers.

Theres the video.  Then read the TGR Thread.  There are obvious signs of wind loading and a blatant disregard for safety in the article itself.

"What kind of precautions did you take to test the slope before you dropped in?
Hiking all the way up there which took about an hour to an hour and a half gave us a feel for the snow, then at the top, Alex punched his ski pole through the snow to feel the different layers. After that, he cut the snow where we were dropping in, then he went first and it held so I thought it was fine."

So poking the snow and making a small ski cut is adequete?  The video shows the tracks from the "guide" making a cut not even a quarter across the slope.   No snow pit?  No looking for hoar layers or measuring grain size?  The only thing a poke from a pole will find is a crust layer. 

It ripped out on the first turn, right above an in bounds chair. 

SASS is lucky that not only was that kid not hurt badly, but that there wasnt a mass of people buried who had nothing to do with the actions of the group.

Alright, it does seem like a careless mistake after reading a little.

Either way I still stand behind all my points about SASS and know that at either camp you will enjoy yourself however, I like SASS's program more based on my experiecnes and what I have seen on your website.
