IPod Tape Deck

I just got a 4runner and I want to play my iPod. I don't want one of those FM transmtters because I heard they were shitty. So I have one of those tape decks and it wont work in my tape player, any suggestions?

try blowing out the dust, and even for one of my players it was weird and i had to put the cord side in first, when they were designing tape decks they were not anticipating the use of a cable coming off of them to transmit as an audio jack, thus the weird configuration. Just run the cable up the side of the tape deck and it should fit.
