gears are expensive but seaon pass is cheap.
some mountains are good and some are shit.
we do not have really good terrain parks and this is the reason we have so few pros.

Every time I see japan in a mag or movie the skiers are in snow up to their ass and it's super light. Supposedly those people don't ever go off the groomed or something. That's why I want to go.

Thats a little more like it. but more detail if you can. Like how much you figure a ticket costs or the amount of snow that falls.
PS Japan has the most ski resorts per country in the world.

this is what i have heard:
appearently skiing is soo expensive in Japan, that it is almost cheaper for japanese people to fly over to North America, first class and then ski at a mountain in N.A. i could be mistaken tho

since Japan is such a fad oriented country, being a pro skier, or just telling people you are a pro skier will get you laid all night long. Skiers who go over there have groupies and stuff.

the ski patrollers dress like optimus prime and fire lasers at you when you go out of bounds. The lifts are run by those Sony robot dog things, and they don't have chocolate milk in the cafeteria.

hey shasta are you coming to nagoya? that's where i live. which mountain you go to?
not many mountains offer tree skiing in Japan. the places you see on video or magazine is often the place you should not ski.
you may find hot chocolate but absolutely no bars at the bottom of the mountain.
being a pro skier does not get you laid all night but being a pro snowboarder does. not many japanese girls ski any more.

Japan has great powder skiing.
I would say that Japan is like a cat skiing operation. This year I have skied 20 days of those days 100% of the time I have skied untracked powder. This place is just crazy.
Yes you have to duck ropes but the rewards are great.

I was just in japan for a week when my skiboard sponsor sent me over there to do demos and exhibitions. From my experience, japan is most definatly a fad country, and yes i did get laid all night long. Go to www.skiboardmagazine.com and read the article 'skiboarding in the land of the rising sun' to see pics and a story about snowsports in japan
hope it helps

Skiboards and powder are not a good mix. grafiti is not done by westerners its done by the japanese. They do like to blame other people for their social problems. You are right that they are faddie. In someways being around non japanese gives them a chance to break their social roles, or shakai culture.
