Rodeo vs. cork

i'm a little confused. I was at woodward today and i keep getting cork and underflip 5's and 7's  consistantly, but i want to do a rodeo. And i don't understand how to make it work because i keep throwing cork.

So throw me a few tips? I'd really appreciate it

if you spin left throw your right shoulder forward and then roll over on your back

It's like, jumping forward while turning onto your back, roll onto your back, then let your legs lead the way (over over your shoulder)

who was coaching on the jump???  They shoulda noted some things, musta been the damn snowboarders...when i go for corks on that particular jump, if im going for 7 i think of trying to immediately grab double tail, with a 5 i go for leading safety a little before 180...with rodeos, set it like a backie first, thrust your hips out, and go for a leading japan to set the spin.

by drop it means throw that shoulder forward think of it this way

cork is just off axis spinning, rodeo is an invert.

thats what you get when you try to type something while your teacher is yelling at you to close your lap top. but if you cut it down to the absolute most basic definition, i would consider that correct. barley

lol I think you guys have rodeos and mistys confused.
There are a few good cults that you should be able to find some better explenations in like ASK TURPIN and the trick tip forum.

Misty is a frontflip 180, I believe.

There are two corks - bio and rodeo. Bio is forward cork, rodeo is backward.

oh woodward... isn't it great being able to do the trick without dying, talk about it, learn, and then be able to do it the next day with no repercussions? god i love that place.

this is incorrect

brawney-frontflip 180
misty-frontflip with spinning rotation, usually minimun of 540 to get back to feet
rodeo-backflip with spinning rotation, also usually minimum of 540
cork-falling backwards as you spin, not quite flipping, minimum 360, but 540 and 720 is "easier"
bio-falling forward as you spin, usually at least 720

Yeah, woodward is a sick place. I like being able to do some weird swan dive with skis on and be fine.

Anyway, thanks for the insight. Now lets see what happens on the mountain!

Are you a coach there?  When I was at  Woodward with my crew, the coach (might have been you) was trying to help me get a rodeo down.  I was trying to do it more like a d-spin, and the coach told me that it was more like a back flip that you throw at an angle.   Instead of throwing your head back straight to spot the landing, you look over one shoulder or the other and that helps you to rotate diag.  Next time I go up there, I am going to throw a bunch of them off the resi bag into the pit instead of taking it right to the ramp.   Trying to grab Japan didn't help me out.   I think that getting the rodeo without adding another rotation to it would be easier.

i am, but that wasnt me...sounds like how one of the snowboarders explains it, but its pretty much the same, i just try to break it into two, almost simultaneous parts, the flip straight over first, but then almost  immediately set the spin, so by 180 youll be in a corked out backflip kind of.  sooooo many kids set for flatspin now thinking its rodeo...you gotta get more inverted and that starts setting straight over first.
