Patenting Songs?

How do you do it?

I've read that you can go to copyright.gov or send a stamped letter to yourself with your cd in it...

How do you patent songs... A step by step process would be perfect.

you copywrite intellectual material, like songs. Patents are for inventions.

I'm going to upload them on pure volume, but I've also read places that you can save you song on your computer and it counts as a type of copyright, but you are less likely to receive infringement payment if your songs are stolen.

I was wondering about a more legit way.

if you're not signed its probably not worth the hassle. people don't even pay for legit music these days
