i think sunapee needs to work on two things mostly from my expierience this year.
so some posative stuff first.
-i really liked the divided thier park so that there were 0 to no beginners on the expert side +1
-thier rail variety was great. the s-rail, dfd, but that down rail was a lil sketch. then you move onto the canon rail or slat rail or box. rails are good +1
bad stuff
- thier jumps have always been sketchy. the first jump this year was great. good kick and good landing, but hard to get speed for. (i will talk about flow later)
- the second and third jump (that huge step down) those were weird. the second jump had a terrible landing a different kick to it everytime i was at the park. thats every weekend. and when i didnt have school. the last and huge step down just seemed to large for sunapee. i just didnt seem to fit into the park at all, but it had a nice landing which is a plus.
as for flow like i mentioned before
- i think the 2nd and 3rd jump should be moved up the hill so that you could place another rail (rainbow) below it. the rainbow is on the complete wrong side of the park, has anyone ever seen a gaper hit a rainbow?
another idea for the jumps ---i thought it was weird how you need a lot of speed for the first jump, but then had to really hit the brakes for the second jump, but then the second to 3rd jump was great. it almost felt like there could have been another jump inbetween the first and second. idk, just felt that way sometimes.
still dealing with flow, it was hard this year to find a line that you could hit all the features in. i would have liked to hit the long flat box/rail, but then that means that i wiould have to skip the first jump. so all i am saying that that the park would really step up to the next level if there was a distinct line that a skier/boarder could take.
thats my 2 cents on the sunapee park subject. i hope its not too confusing.
im not complaining on the we call a "large jump" when i said large i was specifically talking about the take off and how it was 15 feet up and just seemed really uneccisary. i feel like there could have been a better use of snow, thats all i guess im saying.
as for the general attitude and feel in the park, its awesome. park crew is sick. BBQ's at the bottom are sick. take a run and eat a burger. how much better can it get?
pats peak represent! represent what, our shitty park? I love the complaints about flat landings at sunapee. I'm positive they don't hold a candle to pat's steep lips and flat-as-fuck landings. I almost wonder whether all those impacts contributed to MY SEASON BEING OVER due to a knee injury. Sorry for the rant, but I'm frustrated. On a better note, I'm going to try again for the sunapee freestyle team next year, and it should be even more fun if they up the parks
informative bump.
And I like your ^ username. Before I saw that, I was hoping to name my first ski movie "Chronicles of Gnarnia", because it would have been such an epicly fabulous title of gnarliness, but you beat me to it.
