So i just got a job at a ski shop. I basically have access to any ski i want for direct price from the vendor. like the skis you buy for 600 dollars, i canget them for like $200, which is awesome
so the skis that i have, i like, but i was on a serious price limit when i got them. so now that i have the option to get what ever i want, i think i should jump on it.
so heres what I was skiing on. 172cm, 84 waist fairly stiff symmetrical twin tip. I had them mounted about -2 from true center, where they should be mounted. i skied maybe 15% park or less, and the rest was all mountain charging and carving and what ever backcountry i could find. I SKI THE EAST COAST.
So heres what im looking for.
I need something that can hold up at high speeds, something that can carve, and something that will ski everything.
I want Twin Tips
I'm looking for something a little bigger, maybe high 170s, low 180s. bigger waist, at least low 90s, but nothing higher than maybe 105?
Im skiing on the east coast. so im going to be skiing lots of ice, hardpack, slush, and what ever else the east coast throws at me. This winter i happened to be skiing when it snowed about 1.5 feet. my skis didnt handle it well...
So i wanna be able to throw down in the park a little bit, but im not super worried about that. i really want to be able to ski everything.
thanks for your help.

Check out the 4FRNT VCTs. I have the 182 model and love them. They're really sick for everything and can still do well in park. I have mine mounted 3cm forward of recomended and like them there. They seem to pivot a little easier but they aren't so far forward that it feels stupid. I ski everything but groomers and park for the most park. A lot of bumps, steeps and trees and they rule. 104mm waist keeps ya floating and the softer tips are great in deep but still cut through chop and crud pretty well.

dam, i have like 10 tabs opened to different skis that all kinda fit the criteria. i can't choose, haha. i gotta read into the reviews more and what not. im not buying anything yet because i just got the job today and im not starting till next weekend, and i probably wont be asking to use the employee pricing plan untill i kinda get settled in. so im just looking for an overview right now.

Line 179 Prophet 90 or maybe 100. It was 2008 gear of the year and I haven´t heard a single bad thing of them.
Or if you want a more playful ski, the Sir Francis Bacon will also be sick and better in the park. Don´t be afraid of the wide waist, it even rips the groomers.

consider a Ninthward Firstblood in a 180. 122/91/116...the skis love going fast and making huge turns, they have a lot of
camber and that mixed with the stiffness makes them hold an edge very well at high speeds and makes them stomp-machines.
ive never ever had an issue landing backseat with these. they are super light, very poppy at high speeds

What do you think i should do on dimensions, cuz i can't pick a good specific(ish) waist
im skiing EVERYTHING on the east coast, i dont need anything insane in the park. something that will be fun, but no where near spark specific. i really need something that can charge the ice and crud and hard pack and the occasional pow. also right trees and all that stuff.
i think i like something a little stiffer too. i realize there are a ton of skis to choose from.
also, anyone have any say on using a rocker ski (like the obsethed) for the east coast? i really have no idea about rockers besides what they are and what not.

i don't think you'll need rocker and something in the 90s should be solid thats why ARV, Fujas maybe Moment Tahoes would be good something to slay all mountain since the Ice Coast has minimal pow 90 should be a dece width

i was looking at the ARV's, i like them and they are really marketed as all mountain skis.
now heres the question, i like the dimensions on the 185's, but i dont know if i could ski the 185. im 5'9, 175/180. i have skis since i was three. i can and do ski everything. would i be able to handle the 185s? how bout in trees and bumps (i hate bumps...)?
All times are Eastern (-5)
