whats the trick to throwin a 360 on a huge jump?

i guess you could say i'm a 'new' newschooler, my bag o tricks aint that great. anyways, i can throw a 360 on smaller jumps (like a 10 ft tabletop for example), where i twist my body to spin all the way around. however, i wanna step it up to a BIG jump, and i obviously dont wanna twist my body, otherwise i'll overrotate and the landing will be super ugly. i hear all i do is just turn my head to the side and the rest of my body will follow. is that true? any advice would be great. thanks.

yeah, that should work. If you watch the pro's doing big floaty things, they barely move their bodies when they are launching. When you have more then a second of hangtime, you don't have to spin very fast so just take it easy.

Basically to throw 3's off bigger jumps you just throw your body with less torque. Instead of winding up a ton of smaller jumps to get the rotation just don't wind up as much. Because you have more air time that little bit of torque allows you to spin the full 360.

i'd say spinning is the key. try to spin.

Turning your head is a good start. I like to tuck up like doing a safty and that keeps me more stable in the air so that might help. And also it makes for easy 3 saftys.

I just started throwing three's of the biggest tables at Timberline yesterday and it feels sooo natural. The ease of the spin makes it that much more fun. The mindset I had when I threw my first three of the biggest table was the same as I normally have. You don't have to spin as hard...very true...but spin the three like you would normally but like someone else said, with not as much torque...your shit'll come around smooth...LATE.

I have the same issue.. I can throw them off the smallest jump you could imagine, and off some medium size jumps too.. But i'm afraid if i go TOO big i will overrotate and eat it. I think the key is commiting and really slowing it down without the big wind up on the takeoff.

Take it up a notch by slowing it down and not winding up too much.
IF you wind up to much and over rotate, just open up and slow your rotation down a little.
There easy... after a few.

im usually a little quicker to 180 then i am to 360 on a big jump, because the 180 brings you to your grab, and from there you can hold it and spot the rest of your rotation.

i would just get super confortable with 3 on smaller jumps, launching yourself off a 50 footer when you still cant spin a clean 3 isnt a good idea. ive hit so many small gay jumps i can 3 on flat ground with out alot of effort

dude doing a 3 on flat ground is almost impossible unless your on skiblades
but anywhay..doing a 3 off a big jump you dont have to put your body into throwing it off the takeoff you just do a smaller swing of your arms and if you start to overrotate go for a 540 or 720...actually just slow down your spin, its pretty easy

its not about hucking as hard as you can either,
i think i can spin a 3 off a little jump just aswell as a big one, its all about the timing of your spin to add style,
also you dont really have to wind up, it is more effective to have a slight carve and lead the spin with your hips instead of arms.

^^ yea the more speed you have the easier it is to float a 3 then twisting to get it around. Plus it looks sooo sick when you do it right.

just gotta stay calm, and slowly spin, don't even wind up the slightest bit
they're easier on big jumps than little ones, for sure

Just keep looking around, and I think the
real trick is just keeping your cool in the air.

i have 179s and i can 3 on the ground easy......... 360ing a big jump is a mix of turning your head and winding up, depending on what a big jumo to u is. over the 70 at windells this summer, i turned my head and would rotate to 5, but over a 35, 40 turning your head won't do it, you need to toss it a bit......don't get me wrong though, you always turn your head on anything to spot your landing. you just have to go for it, you'll only get it if you try

thanks for the advice everyone, i'l have to try it out next time i get the chance to hit a big jump, which in my mind is 35-40 feet. 50 and above is downright enormous, i'm not quite that crazy yet haha.

'SKI BETTER.'
hmm, well let's see. I've been skiing for 18 years, I'm pretty god damn good at it, i dont think i need to ski BETTER per se, i need to get better in the air though.

so, what if i have a problem with spinning fast? i ALWAYS land 270. i've only tried on smaller jumps, thinking that going to a bigger jump will only hurt more. i've screwed up my ACL in my knee, which i think is what keeps me from getting the torque to get the rest of the spin.
i have the same problem with frontflips on tramps. i end up stopping when my back is parallel to the mat.
i dunno if i just have no air-sense, or what, but tips would be nice.

i learned 3's on about a 15 foot table i wouldent recomend anything smaller to start out with. also to float big 3's like 45 ft and above try looking down at your skis instead of around your shoulder and just turn your shoulders a little bit. dont huck it it will look really gay

doing threes off big tables doesn't really take any effort. just go off the jump and look to one side and grab and land and it's over. truly it isn't hard, you just need to sack up and go fast and just do it.. there really isn't much more to say about it.
