Stealing Xbox Live Cards?

aight so I have a buddy who works at future shop and we just got a new xbox for the house.  we are wondering that if he was to activate an xbox live card at the store, not paying for, and come home and activate xbox live, is there any way that future shop will be able to tell or be warned that this card was stolen?  Or does the activation pin pad just talk to microsoft and future shop would never find out? 

basically can we get away with taking an xbox live card, activating it, and using it?

my friend does this with marketplace points all the time. you'll be fine, the pin on the cards have to bescratched off so they have like no way of knowing the number or anything.

I once stole an xbox card from Meijers, and it wouldnt work because the checkout didnt activate it

You know that the card is not activated until payed for at the register. Meaning that if you stole it and went to your house and tried to enter the code, it wouldn't be valid.

yea but the amount of times big stores do inventory and check the amount of product is only twice a year.  It doesn't even bother them its just a number and the answer is "oh well its not there."

we are not worried about the physical inventory but once you activate it, will they be able to tell that the card was not paid and whether or not it was used on Xbox live?

 OP please don't pay attention to ^ It's not the case that the registers will notice activation w/out payment or anything of the like, and managers really don't care if the registers are short. Nobody suspects employes of stealing, so you are absolutely safe in getting your live subscription, it's totally worth it.

yeah stores honestly dont give a shit if theres a couple of cards missing. usually the manager is just like oh well, i wanna finish this so i can go home so fuck it.

bull shit.
At Best Buy (who owns Future Shop, or at least did), mangers get pissed when people steal stuff. Especially small stuff like that.

They are just like gift cards, you must actviate them at check out.

 nobody cares about their inventory, they don't get paid per gift-card they sell... A managers best day is one where he walks into his store and finds all his merchandise has been lifted from the store, preferably by his staff, that way he knows all the goods went to good homes, and are really being enjoyed.


look at it this way, would you rather have some shmuck come into your store and actually BUY his kid an xbox live card when his kid won't even use it, or have someone you know well enough and you trust enough to have given them a job take it off your hands for FREE! obviously any good manager would prefer the later, free is always better!

Nobody cares about their inventory? Really? Are you serious? Inventory is how a company make money. A mangers best day? Fuck, man. I have seem a few employees (3 years in retail) leave the store in hand cuffs because they were stealing. Who does want free stuff, however 1. Cards must be activated at the checkout, 2. I don't get paid on commission, but I have rather have someone buy something them steal it. They are basically stealing from me. At the company I work for we all get a "bonus" if we do well if we are under our goal for theft for the end of the month. So check this out,
Too much stuff was stolen -> No extra money in my pocket.
We stopped too much stuff from being stolen -> Extra cash in my pocket.
So someone stealing in the store is stealing out of my pocket.
Clearly you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

i was thinkin about takin one but i looked at the back and the first thing it says is it is not activated until paid for by the rigister so i was mad i had to waste my money in that bullshit when ps3 online is free fuck microsoft its just easy way for that fag ibill gatesto get 10 billion more dollars
