Dorming vs Housing

im going to Rutgers next year and im debating wherther i should live in the dorms or in a hosue with a friend of mine and a few other guys i dont realy know. the house is more appealing right now, but i would be missing out on dorming, because id probly live in a house all 4 years then..  gettinga house is a little cheeper but im not trying to make that sway my decision.. what do you think

youll live in a house your whole life.  you dont get many chances to live in a dorm.  id say go that route.

i feel like the pros of housing over power the pros of dorms by a lot. just think about what life would be like in a house. No restrictions...

Dorm it up for sure, you will meet tons of people you might not otherwise, and you will know about all kinds of things going on on the weekends. You will have plenty of time to live in a house with your friends in the future, I say take the opportunity to live in a dorm when your a freshman.

Plus, if you have friends living in a house im sure you will be able to still spend plenty of time there and chill or partay, or whatever it is you want to do there.

dorms dorms dorms for sure. so much fun. the college experience wouldnt be it if i didnt live in the dorms. who cares if you cant drink/smoke in your room sometimes, the dorms make up for it tenfold for sure. maybe its just my experiences, but this year has been the best year of my life. ive met so many people in the dorms and had so many great experiences in it. plus its fun to fuck with people, its like a constant prank battle. go for the dorms you wont regret it

dorms for sure, I am just finishing my first year of university and i am living in a dorm, and i actually dont want to leave at all, it is so much fun. granted i am living in a pretty small building, where there are only 48 people, but it is so much fun, all of us are so close, and we all hang out together all the time. its awesome, i wouldnt change a thing about it other than getting to know everyone sooner in the year.

Personally, I would live in the dorms for at least a year. Yeah its probably more expensive but at the same time you meet A LOT of different people and you have the abilty to be more involved on the campus and know whats going on. Downside is that you cant party and most RA's are douches.

Living in a house with a guy you know and a few you dont can be the ultimate best or the worst. For one, you may not end up staying friends with the guy you're cool with now but you never know. Secondly, if you throw parties at the house, expect stuff of yours to get stolen and/or trashed. Thats just the way it goes. It sucks but most of the time they just dont have respect for your shit.

Either way just make the most of it :)

id say live in dorms for a year, make friends and connections and get into the real college life, then go live in a house for the next three years. thats usually the best way to do it, and the most common

live in a house it would be so much doper. when ive visited colleges staying in the dorms was fun but it was real gay how the RA's are like ur parents, as long as the house is close to campus and around other college houses it would be dope just to be able to light up in ur living room w/e u wanted to.

I dunno what type of dorms you guys live in. But I'm in my fourth year of dorming and I have partied a shitload in the dorms. Smoke/drink/party not a problem, but I guess its all dependent on your ra. My building has floor parties almost every thursday night( kegs, music, the works)

deffinatly dorm your first year you will meet so many more people and meet way more girls.  Live off campus your second year though, dorming gets old and i don't know about anyone else but i seem to get in  alot of trouble bc my RA's a cunt

definitely live in a dorm your first year.  you'll meet a lot more people that way.  bail to the housing your sophmore year.

go for the dorms, one of the best experiences of my life. Yeah, there were a lot of things that sucked about it - weirdo roommate, no alcohol, ect. but it was well worth it.  Its awesome living with 50 people and the experiences/stories you gain from it are well worth it  Hell, sometimes it was more fun sneaking in the alcohol than it was drinking it.  And to be honest, some of my best friends I met in the dorms.  Don't pass up what could be an awesome experience.

right now its, 3:19ish, and my room is bumpin! haha i have to move my comp before some dumbass spills his brew on it. i'd say def. dorm, you'll get the experience and meet tons of awesome people.

I lived in the dorms my first year. It was ok, but I really could have done without it. Had to listen to my neighbors have sex all the time, and this bitch shrieked like no other. Had to put up with a lot of bullshit from the housing admins. The food was average, non-nutritious, and overpriced (You were also required to have at least a small meal plan, and there was only 1 kitchen per floor). Being close to classes was a major bonus. Then again, I had to go to the library to study since it was so distracting in the dorms.

Now for my second year I live in a house and I can eat whatever I want, much more room, same price, much further away, much less distractions, live with great people, lots of room to put my skis (this is actually a serious problem in dorms heh), can park my car without paying up the ass etc.

If dorm life doesnt seem that appealing then skip it, I could have done without it. Everything is taken care of for you in the dorms, its about as close as you can get to living with your parents, but being "moved out". Maybe thats a hyperbole, but meh~

i prefer living in a house, but some of there are countless dormroom memories that i'll never forget

freshman year i would say live in the dorms just for the experience and all the other freshman you meet

you will bitch about ra's and your roommates while in the dorms and often feel like authority figures make you out as a criminal but i left the dorms with most of my good college friends i still am in touch with today.  if i had to go back to my freshman year i would dorm again.  if it get too bad get get kicked out which is actually pretty easy.

dorming fo sho, i'm at rutgers now. you'll meet a thousand more people by dorming. fill out your housing app asap because if you apply first you get better housing. i go to rutgers also, if you have any other questions pm me
