Salomon Dumont or Line Invader for Beater Skis [read for more info]

Tonight I am either deciding [besides my chronics i just bought for next season] i want a ski to just mess around on and well i dont care how it looks [condition wise]

This is mostly for the days i am just hiking up rails or what not, but okay

Friend will sell me brand new invaders for around 100

or should i spend
150 for the soso condition dumonts with sth14s [cracked edge and 1.5" edge missing under foot]
that is the dumont in the B/S/T section and well never really rode something with cracked edges or edges that were missing and was wondering, can i take these off of everything [if i got dumonts they would be for jumps too more than rails] or would it just be worth it to pick up the invaders [just would have to throw some bindings frmo my other ski onto it]

if you need any more info let me know, this was just a brief topic intro

im 5'11"/6ft & 143lbs. if that matters

If you want beater skis for urban and shit, might as well go with the Dumonts cuz they have bindings

Yeah I did think about that, would the edge missing on the underfoot effect the riding around alot? never dealt with this before but i believe it would just effect if its icey out? i could be totally wrong but yeah, I would be going off jumps too [under 30 feet jumps] so i would like to know how it handles compared to having a full in tact edge

not necesarily if hes fine with picking up some px12 in the bst which can be got for like 75 and he is capable of mounting his on bindings. otherwise dont waste 25 bucks on mounting and get the dudemonts

Wouldn't your chronics be for jumps and stuff on the mountain?

Also the guy above me is correct, I keep forgetting how cheap everything is right now

Yes my Chronics would be more for jumps, but i wouldnt want to use them on the crappier days [unless thats just me cuz thats what i do with my snowboards, use certain ones on certain days] but yeah i dont know. sorry didnt really understand the 3rd message, were you saying get the dumonts and picking up px12s? or get the invaders + px12s etc cuz i got confused there.

if you know how to mount your own bindings then buy the invaders pick up some binders in the bst for around 75 and you will have an awesome fully legit set up for under 200.

if you dont know how to mount your own bindings i would not waste 25 bucks or more on mounting the invaders so i would get the dumonts. this way you would have a decent setup for under 200

I think he meant Invaders and px12s. Honestly, you would only need beater skis if you plan on hitting urban features. For hitting the park, you could just go with your Chronics.

Alright, i could just be paranoid because well skis are a little more expensive than snowboards.

If edge ever pops out or comes off is that under warranty? or are there certain conditions for that.

i dont plan to be killing rails but just hit like 2-4 short rails just straight on [no switchups or what not] because well im not that good etc just dont want to kill my skis.

so the chronics can hold up to abuse?

Edge blowout from hitting rails generally isn't covered by warranty.

The topsheep of your Chronics will chip and peel, but that's cosmetic. The bases and edges are pretty bombproof, you shouldn't worry about them coming out unless you seriously kill rails all the time.

If the edge just falls out it will prbably be covered by warranty.

Yeah thanks for that,
I know BackCountry is super good and well they have a unlimited return policy.

I wouldnt have any problems buying them just like that from backcountry because well they really dont care what they do cuz i bought a jacket from them before, the little thing to hang the coat [like a loop] near the neck was ripped or broken when they sent it, they sent 2 more of the same jackets and said keep them.

but yeah dont know why backcountry replaced it instead of salomon but thats cool

Dude, i have invaders and love them for jibbing.  if you want them to be shit skis, just go on craigslist and find some shit bindings or take the bindings off ur moms old skis that she never uses

I'd go with the Dumonts. Then when the skis turn to complete shit you can take the bindings and mount them up to another ski. That is unless you already have an extra set of bindings in which i'd say go with the invaders.
