End sexism in contests

I had a great idea just now. Girls and guys skiing has been seperated in terms of skill for a long time. Something needs to be done to get it on the right track! Soooooooooo, END THE SEXISM! Instead of X-games girls and guys events, lets combine em! That way, for like, superpipe, no more girls and guys events, just one big ski superpipe event.

Obviously, the girls arent goingto be going as high or doing as great tricks, so something like a handicap would be imposed on the guys so that the girls have a real chance against Tanner. But wouldnt that be cool?!?! A girl could beat out Dumont for the overall pipe contest and we could show the rest of the world that our sport is the lone one where gender doesnt make a difference!

Are racial jokes on the internet cool because they are there for the lulz factor? I bet you think they are pretty hilarious. Now here's an actual idea.

In teams the whole team gets scored, so no handicap is required. The Orage masters happens like that, and it works well. Every team has a girl on it, so nobody can blame the girl. The whole thing isn't that competitive either so the vibes are good.

In a comp like the X games it still would never work though to combine guys and girls I don't think. Too much of a competitive atmosphere and individual glory for the winner.

damn ,,i cant believe this thread has gone so far..anyways..

thread creator, I think i understand where you are going with this but honestly I would feel offended if I had to compete against guys with a handicap. That would make me feel even more discriminated. It's not fair for the guys in the first place and I would feel like im in a make your wish come true event. 
I'm really interested in knowing how could you feel you are being respected? you are not handicapped, so why handicap guys?

on the other hand, as some girl said before, a team comp would be a good idea cause it would actually make the girls step it up. I know I would. I would want to take advantage of having guys pushing me and I would want my team to win. Its an indirect way of competing against guys.

One more thing. If you really believe in your idea, then give us some more reasons why you do so that they stop bitching at you. get serious for christ sake.

I'm thinking of pitching the idea at my park but I think we'd have to combine skiers and boarders to get enough girls to be on the teams.

There is way too much of a skill gap for that at the X-Games, also putting in a handicap is just ridiculous your not allowing anyone to prove anything that way.

Perhaps more shit like pretzels and polish donuts where random shit is just given out to people to doing sick stuff and then get more girls involved?

i say let girls enter any contest they want with the men, but you cant ask for a handicap. That is like saying you want to work twenty hours a week and get paid the same as someone working forty. thats sexism. an even playing field for all participants. The PGA allows women to play but they have to play from the same tees as men, completely fair in my mind. so apply the same rules to skiing. no handicaps even playing field

I agree with this, if there's a chick out there who can kill it and compete with the men, then let her compete (i.e. the example asian_allen posted of the inline chicks cept with skiing) - but I think that the idea of a handicap is fucking retarded.
