End sexism in contests

I had a great idea just now. Girls and guys skiing has been seperated in terms of skill for a long time. Something needs to be done to get it on the right track! Soooooooooo, END THE SEXISM! Instead of X-games girls and guys events, lets combine em! That way, for like, superpipe, no more girls and guys events, just one big ski superpipe event.

Obviously, the girls arent goingto be going as high or doing as great tricks, so something like a handicap would be imposed on the guys so that the girls have a real chance against Tanner. But wouldnt that be cool?!?! A girl could beat out Dumont for the overall pipe contest and we could show the rest of the world that our sport is the lone one where gender doesnt make a difference!

ok, a handicap i truely a shit dumb idea.  and sexist  like no girls are ever going to progress if they have no reason to.  Also i think that right now at least, men and womens skiing are on drasticly differant levals. like it'd be dope to compete against wallish and tanner, but honesty i dont know of a single girl who can take those guys down, theres really no point in combining us.

that being said, she was actually very good, its different in skiing. winners throw cab 10's and doubles in the guys comps but girls are still throwing 7s ungrabbed and shit you just cant compare the two

Fuck you, misogynistic asshole.

Girls can be just as good as guys, they just aren't because their competition doesn't force them to be. They can win with straight airs and 5's, so why not? If we mixed the gender categories and put up with a few years of handicaps (boo fucking hoo) then girls would catch up because they'd have to, and we'd start seeing some real impressive things from women's skiing.

Why do you need a competition to force you to be better?  If you want to progress, you want to progress regardless of if you can win a comp with a 5 or a straight air.  There are plenty of guy skiers who can throw tricks that don't compete or throw them in the back country just for fun.  You don't need a handicapped comp to make girls improve.   

It sounds to me more like you want to see girls competition have more exposure and bigger prizes.  I think girls do deserve a little more of the spot light because they are killing it and progessing.  I don't think that having them compete against guys is the way to do it.

Possibly we could start to see team competitions with teams of guys and girls competing against other teams of guys and girls.  That way it would be a combined score and no one needs to be handicaped.  Every guy and girl would be pushed to progress.

that's the first thing that came to my mind when i read the original post.

i can see both sides of this tho. if you want to push girls to progress, you need to let them compete against better people. sounds good until now. but then, they wouldn't need to progress because of the handicap. they would just be fine with their lower skill level. defeats the purpose.

Im all for mixing the guys with the girls. But, for the fairness, girls should have their own category. Guys are clearly better in skiing in general. But if a girl wants to take the chalenge, come on!

Women,in general(without any offence) are not as strong physically. They have poor center of gravity and tend to psych out when things get big...it could be an adrenaline thing too.

why the fuck combine girls and guys in sports?  The best skier is a guy
the best basketball player is a guy - i'de like to see a woman actually learn to dunk the ball.

the best hitter in baseball = guy  - i'de like to see a chick hit the ball further than arod or manny

best tennis player = guy  I'de like to see serena williams (Number 1 tennis player) beat rafael nadal. 

In ALMOST EVERYTHING  the best player is a male.
a girls team against a guys team in most sports have no chance.  so why the fuck do women want to join men when its obvious they are not as good.  they were built differently then men were, therefore they just don't play the sport the same way.  There is some asian bitch who wants to join the mens PGA tour.  She would have no chance playing in the mens league where everything is a step up from the womans league.  Does she think she can beat tiger woods? i hope not, because theres no way she can. 

I understand any proffessional woman athlete can kick my ass, that is not the point.  THe point is men outplay woman in pretty much any proffessional sport.   So whats the deal with combining genders?  I don't understand, theres a reason woman ahve their own competitions/leagues etc...

Exactly.  All the amazing male pros today weren't born with all the talent they have.  They PUSHED themselves and that's what women need to do.

In the case that females physically cannot ever be better than males, keep it fair and have a women's division and an open division.

i'm going to compare this to olympic-level sprinting.

there is at least one handicapped man who can run almost as fast with his prosthetic sprinting legs as the men in the olympics can run. he almost qualified to compete in the last olympics, and is expected to make the qualifying time for the next olympics. he can run faster than the women, but of course he cannot compete against them because he is a man and has a penis. it would also be pretty damn hilarious to watch a man with no legs beat the entire women's field. if the women cannot beat the man with no legs, what chance do they have at beating the men with legs?

men are always going to be better at this stuff. the most we can do for the women is spare them the humiliation, just like they have done at the olympics by not allowing a handicapped man to compete against the women. the women are and should be happy that we are so nice. they ought to be happy in snowsports as well, and most are. the OP, however, is an idiot. i doubt she herself even competes, for one, and if  that is the case then there is absolutely no reason why she should be running her mouth off trying to change a sport she doesn't even compete in. if she does compete, she ought to know better.

I wouldn't mind a contest where a man and a woman were paired in teams (i.e. Orage Masters) and they competed against each other, but I just don't see it.

I would love to see women throw down, I think it would be awesome. But making a handicap for the males is basically saying "GIRL'S PRO FREESKIING IS INFERIOR." Also, it would be ridiculous if someone who actually is good got bumped off the podium by a girl who did a sw 5 due to some idiotic handicap.

Wana know the ONLY way to make freeskiing non- "sexist"? Get girls to throw down as hard as guys. That is the only way to make competitions balanced.

Why dont the girls just ride with the guys during practice so they can push themselves and then have seperate fields with the girls throwing down the best they can.

Then once (if) you girls catch up we could have this discussion about girls and guys competeing together again. If we started a handicap system then it would never go away.

Look at the bright side: didnt girls get the same amount of money as guys in the x-games. that is a big step...

But in all reality if guys can push each other then why can't girls push each other?
