End sexism in contests

I had a great idea just now. Girls and guys skiing has been seperated in terms of skill for a long time. Something needs to be done to get it on the right track! Soooooooooo, END THE SEXISM! Instead of X-games girls and guys events, lets combine em! That way, for like, superpipe, no more girls and guys events, just one big ski superpipe event.

Obviously, the girls arent goingto be going as high or doing as great tricks, so something like a handicap would be imposed on the guys so that the girls have a real chance against Tanner. But wouldnt that be cool?!?! A girl could beat out Dumont for the overall pipe contest and we could show the rest of the world that our sport is the lone one where gender doesnt make a difference!

dumb idea really dumb, but i do supporrt your point but instead of contests women should not be compeating with men but just sessioning with men like if you want more progression in womens skiing then try somthing like having more women sgements in ski movies like kaya, and ingrid have killer segments

but seriously, OP, combining men and women events isn't a good idea imo.. think about it- the ladies don't stand a real chance against the big guns in men's events..
keeping it separated actually gives more chances to A. winning events B.prize money...

it's not sexism, it's being fair..

 I just read through this thread for the first time and lost it after reading the first response. CLASSIC.

A handicap? The reason they don't join up the girls and the guys together is the SAME REASON THEY KEEP GIRLS AND GUYS SEPERATE IN EVERY OTHER SPORT IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!

Skill levels are 180 degrees different. Sex in the work world is becoming more equal by the week, girls and guys compete in the white collar world every day, its a battle of brains and work ethic. But no matter how hard a girl works at a sport she's already a professional at, there is absolutely no way she will ever be up to par with the top notch men in that sport, even with a handicap (which would be pretty hard to establish in the skiing world). What happened when Annika Sorenstam tried competing on the PGA tour with the men? She got her ass handed to her. Sports with men competeing are far more advanced and far more technical compared to women's, and there should be no offense taken by that. Men are bigger, faster, stronger, and thats just the way it is. For crying out loud it hasn't even been a decade since the first woman dunked a basketball in a game. Men have been doing it since before they knew what the NBA was.

And finally the fan base just wouldn't be the same if we had to watch both men and women competing for the same prize. There's a reason I don't watch women sports.....they're boring as shit compared to men's.

Having a handicap would greatly disprove that gender doesn't make a difference. It isn't sexism its truth. The top female skier will not beat the top male in any competition without it being unfair. Goddamnit.

a handicap would be sexist agaisnt men. this reminds me of the anomoly (if it should be labeled as that) where people think sexism/racism can only be directed towards women and non-Caucasians. Affirmative action is the most racist thing i have ever heard of and if i was black i would almost take it as a slap in the face, and myself i think its ridiculous that since their race in the past was prosecuted by people that has nothing to do with me, and i have to deal with possibly losing a job to maybe some one that is less adequate then me strictly because they are colored and im white. if you want to erase racism/sexism the gov't and people need to stop giving minorities (esp. women/blacks) handouts and in the case of sports women should just deal with it and work harder. i doubt any women skiers have nearly the work ethic of any of the male pros if they did they would atleast be close to the mens level.

What i was gonna say. Its not sexism, its just sports. What other sport is Co-ed at the professional level? i cant think of any.

I agree with the idea tho. the whole "She is good.....for a girl" thing sucks.

the whole idea of a handicap is so sexist as well though, if the girls want to compete with the guys thats cool, just dont expect to ever medal. not to mention even the low ranking guys on the dew tour are better than most of the top girls like kaya.

Although it would be nice to end it, we couldn't, it just wouldn't be fair. It is like putting a 4th grader on a high school sports team (no offense) All I'm saying is that it's robbing them of a chance to win the competitions because men seem to step up the tricks more.

Probably the worst idea ever. When you said that the guys should be handicapped so it's more far is pretty much saying that some guy could have a amazing run that was just flawless but then a girl has a run that's better for girls but no where near as good as the guys and the guy loses to some run that's no where near as good.

Also t the bottom you say that we can "show the world that we're the lone sport were gender doesn't make a difference". Gender makes a huge difference in compition skiing.

honestly, a good amount of skiers could podium at womens x.
Just fucking retarded to have a woman win when she doesnt deserve it against guys. Women just need to accept that they will never be equal in sports.

Seriously though, the sport just has developed this way. The women newschoolers, dont train like the women aerialists, or else they could compete.

Theres a difference between olympic grade women athletes and pink pants busting 720s and a rodeo here and there. THERE SHOULD NOT be a women slopestyle in the OLYMPICS until the runs are exemplifying olympic grade athleticism.
