Okay so there is this kid that goes to my school and he's a pretty wierd kid but I guess hes had a really hard life. he works at the mcdonalds in the center of my town and he doesn't have a car. So i guess last night him and his brother were walking home and he got hit by a car.... he always wears this big dark colored one piece worker suit thing so i guess the car couldn't see him... and he died last night. And the really bad part of this story is, today at my school they didn't even have a moment of silence or mention his passing or anything. nothing.
yeah dude people have suggested sutff to the principal, including my mom who works at the school. he just basically said that they didn't want to offend anyone
exactly. the principal of my school is a huge douche and a few weeks ago a seceratary at the school died of cancer and there was no announcement about that either
your principal is fucked up. when a kid from my school died, they had multiple announcements about remembering him and looking out for his friends, and had grief counselors in school all day. that sucks so much
I understand a student that attends your school very recently passed away and served no recognition because you claimed it would possibly offend. Yet, you are doing just that without giving the most minimal effort to make a simple announcement referring to such a tragedy. If the rest of the school is unaware of it, then this student will receive very little support that his family and friends most likely are in dire need of. Not to mention the amount of respect that should be recognised directly for the student. I have no idea who he was, but he is a human being none the less. His life, just like yours or mine, was unique an precious and that needs to be respected GREATLY. When i say greatly, I'm not saying you have to hold the funeral at the school yourself, or even attend it for that matter, but a simple memorial that would maybe take up one period out of the entire school year. However, you apparently did not even mention it with a thirty second announcement. Now the rest of the staff, students etc. will go on living their lives unknowingly that a fellow classmate will go on possibly unrecognized, forgotten and ultimately disrespected.
Please reconsider your decision and make some mention of this tragic event.
mm well it depends, sometimes the families prefer to not have any thing like that, and it is completely their discretion
like we had an ESL kid (english as a second language) at our school from south korea who committed suicide 2 years ago, and the parents decided they didnt want to have the school do any type of memorial for their own reasons
Dude get some people together and have your own memorial or something to remember that guy. Make a poster or something. It is always a good idea to remember someone who has past even if they werent the most popular person.
yo thats perfect... and if he says they had some kind of recognition they may have but it was not public, they did not let the entire student body know so ignore any thing he may bullshit you with
my school ahs been on the news enough about bad things.... earlier this year we were on the news becuase when obama got elected a kid stood up in his class and said i wont have no nigger running my country. then all of the black kids in my school wanted to kick the shit out of him, and we were on the news for being racist
and by all i mean like 4, but two of them are the biggest kids iv ever seen. one of them actually fought the kid in our cafeteria while there was a ton of people in it
I'm sorry to hear this happened. I had two of my classmates die during my time at highschool and the simple announcement to keep them in your prayers was quite enough.
My school also had pins made with the students names for us to put on our lapels during graduation, I really liked that. It meant a lot to all of us to have that little item.
I e-mailed your principal. I really hope he hears what we have to say.
things at my school are a lot different a kid from a rival school just passed away during a longboarding accident and we even had a moment of silence and a money raising thing to help his mom out.
see this is what my school should have done. i'm getting off for the night but i really don't want this thread to fall through the forum, so if anyone could help me keep it near the toip, it would be appreciated. i am going to find the right email adress and it will be posted here by tomorrow after noon. thanks everyone
That's horrible. What school do you go to? Last year, a kid, who was also a newschooler from my town (Scarborough) got killed by a drunk driver who was driving south in the northbound lanes on I-95 when he was in his limo on the way home from a red sox game. and even though he didn't go to my school because he went to cheverus, the principal still made a little speech and we had a moment of silence because a lot of kids knew him.
really pisses me off that a student grinding by to survive is disregarded. My letter.
I have recently been informed that a young individual, and a student of
your school for the matter, was killed in a tragic incident after being
struck by a vehicle on his way home from work. Your personal lack of
acknowledgment and inability to communicate with the student body
regarding the matter appauls me. From what I have heard, the student
who died had a rather rough upbringing and worked nights at McDonalds
to get by. He continued to attend school, despite the unfortunate
hardships of his life, and for that I commend him. Your failure to pay
your respects, at the public level, let alone personal level, not only
conveys a disheartened condemnable image upon yourself, but on your
school as well. Despite your personal beliefs about the psychology
behind the public annunciation of a students death, this young man, who
was a member of your community, deserved at the very least some
respect. Your ineptitude as a principal appauls me.
but suicide is different than getting hit by a car. I heard some schools dont glorify suicides because they dont want other kids to be like "oh hes glorified because he killed himself now i will". kids actually think that way. i dk where thehell i read that but i just remeber reading it
emailed a great message. That really is just not right to the family and the students who don't know.
A kid's sister passed away 3 years ago and all week in the announcments theyre was a moment of silence for her and the flag was at half mass for two weeks. I wish some schools were good about that stuff.
