I've been getting into a lot of metalcore/melodic hardcore (or whatever you want to call the sub-genre, you know what I mean), so I'm looking for suggestions of bands I should check out. Definately has to have a tune to it and be good musically, and have singing as well as/instead of shouting. Here are some of the bands of this type I'm listening to just now:
Belvedere
Brand New
Coheed And Cambria
Finch
From Autumn To Ashes
Funeral For A Friend
Glassjaw
The Movielife
Silverstein
Taking Back Sunday
Thrice
The Used
Thanks for any help, or fuck you if you comment on my musical tastes - I didn't ask for that.

im suprised that nobody has mentioned Shai Hulud yet. 'set your body ablaze' is probably the best melodic hardcore song ever. other than that:
poison the well - 'grain of salt' and 'a wish for things that work'
hopesfall - 'the end of an era' and 'from your hands' are great songs
and if you're super pissed - the haunted (slayerish stuff - awesome!)

'slayer, hatebreed...' melodic??? hells no. maybe metalcore, NOT melodic hardcore.
hopesfall, alexisonfire, underoath, stretch arm strong, from autumn to ashes, blindside...these are melodic hardcore bands.

'I heard that Richard Gere gerbils. That is, he inserts gerbils into a paper towel tube, which he then sticks up his butthole. I don't doubt this, because he asked me if i wanted to come over to his house and gerbil. I insisted that he come over to MY house, since the whole thing seemed weird. As a practical joke, i attached a bucket of water to the top of the door so that when he opened it, I beat him with a mannequin leg.'-Skydaddy

here's a fucking sad story: so i was at target yesterday looking at dvds (they're dirt cheap there) and i wandered over to the cd aisle. low and behold, there was a 'fresh sound' rack and on it was avenged sevenfold, thrice, coheed (that pissed me off. they're too good for target), and even the sounds album. to add to it, as i was looking at games coheed's 'devil in jersey city' video pops up on all of the tvs in target followed by an ad for punk goes acoustic. wtf?? down with the main stream!

Lizziebeth, shut the fuck up. There is NOTHING wrong with mainstream. Target showing a video or selling CDs affects nothing.

And thanks again to everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately my hard drive is screwed (it's physically damaged somehow) and I've lost 10Gb of mp3s and a few Gb of photos. Most of my photos and about 8Gb of music are on my home computer too though, so I can get most of it back, but it's going to be a whole lot of hassle tracking down stuff I've downloaded in the past three months and get all my programs back.
Moral of the story? Back up everything. If my mp3 player wasn't broken just now I would have been able to recover almost everything from it and save a whole lot of time. Whether it's on HDD, CD or DVD, back up your stuff people.

unearth
eighteen visions
zao

same exact thing ^ happened to me a target lizzie, but i saw brand new, poisen the well, coheed and thursday cd's and saw the coheed video an I felt pissed as hell too. So i guess that guy can tell me to shut the fuck up too... I think its jelousy that does it, i mean i been a brand new fan for at least 2 years and it pisses me off to see all these 13 year olds in brand new shirts. Oh and Bam check out Alexisonfire, Boys night out, boysetsfire, hopesfall and the beautiful mistake.
