hey people- tell me what the point of facebook is.   what are the benefits?  you waste hours of your life that you could be on NS!

Well, I travel abroad a lot (the majority of the year), so it allows me to stay in contact with my friends. I quite like it.

back in the day, 1960's-1980's they had actual facebooks for college students. All members of the incoming freshman class got their photo taken and it was compiled into a little booklet called a facebook (it only had names and corresponding photos) thus the aim was that people would get to know each other but from my understanding the upperclassmen males would just use it to scout out potential saturday "friends".

It is a place where you can keep in touch with friends, family, and interests from anywhere.  Think about something cool you did that you want to tell everyone about.  Rather than making an email list and sending that out or making a website and having people go there, you have one unified place where people come to check in on their friends and family.

Analogy-  NS is to skiers as FB is to everyone -----social networking is HUGE.  It is how people interact with each other when they cannot otherwise interact (through phone, person, or otherwise).

If you don't like facebook, you aren't using it properly.  Some people waste all day on it, but that is because they just like to interact with friends and be reminded of blackout moments.

It's for lurking on chicks in highschool you wanted to fuck, but whom rejected you. Now you can delight in their failure at life in the form of children out of wedlock, or disproportional weight gain.

Also, solid way to maintain relationships with people you otherwise wouldn't call. I like it because I feel like I have many more couches to sleep on, all over the place.

Now, if you compulsively update your status, use a bunch of fucking apps, take pics specifically for fb, and otherwise generally annoy the shit out of people, fuck off and die.

facebook was originally designed so collage students could find old classmates from highschool ect. Then it moved to highschoolers using it and then down to junior high kids using it. My sister was telling me kids from middle school with facebooks that go into highschool get a bunch of shit for having one before highschool for some reason which i find kinda funny.

Fuck facebook and myspace and all that shit.
Friends should be quality > quantity, and if you have soooo many friends that you need the internet to help organize and communicate with them that is just plain sad.  You should be able to communicate with people without fagbook, c'mon people.
I could make this rant 10 pages but I'll just save the bandwidth for more important shit.
