That or make another ski that Shane would have ridden, something with just goofy ass dimensions that eats pow for breakfast (not the Pontoon though).

Combs got the Coomba, Shane should get the McConkey, makes sense.

with as much support as they gave to Coombs family in his memory, you can guarantee they pay ample respects to Shane. Good thread, but dont doubt they'll have something goign over the summer.

fuck that. dont just slap a new graphic on it and name it after him...he deserved much more...

make a whole new ski and call it the saucer or something along those lines... like they did for Doug when he passed away a few years ago.(RIP)

Doug had actually been helping us create the ski that came out as the Coomba.
We are all still processing Shane's passing and when the time is right, I am sure we will do something that properly honors the character and contributions of Shane. It is really early to promise anything concrete right now and as I stated above, I think many of us are still in the early stages of accepting what happened. Shane was a guy who you liked if you knew him for ten years or ten minutes and he really did amazing things for skiing.

Unless I'm mistaken, Shane named the ski the pontoon. It should stay that way. I'm sure he was in the process of coming up with some crazy new idea for some new improvement to powder skis... and if that ever comes to fruition of course it should be named after him. But why rename something after him if he named it in the first place?

Anyway the way to remember shane isn't a ski with his name attached, it's to ski pow. A lot of us were influenced by him in how we do that. That influence is going to be passed on to the next generation of skiers who are inspired by watching this generation, and the ones after that. That's how you pay tribute to the guy... keep his legacy alive. Keep skiing.

i think it would be a fitting tribute to name a model after him. its the best way people can learn about Shane and find out how amazing he was and how much he did for skiing.

most definitly, i think they should make a new ski in general in honor of him, make it very similar to the pontoon but even better.

name it the mcconkey and for a base or top sheet design sneak the letters R.I.P. in somewhere or some quote from shane himself (of course a hella badass one)
