Do you mean on NS or on the mountains? Because on NS it's pretty obvious. Internet egos and all that.
On the mountains though, I don't see any hate at all really. Some places have it, but everywhere in BC that I've skied (I'm honestly confused, is this how you spell skied? Spelling police help), everyone is either stoked or respectful of everyone. Except the tourists. But they are tourists, not skiers anyways...
I feel sorry for all you people who have to deal with all sorts of hate. Especially for you being a girl skier and most likely one of the only ones at your hill.
You brought up racers, and to be honest, I don't respect all of them all the time... Mainly it's because the ones I see are mostly the rich spoiled kids who instead of football or some other competitive team sport are out racing. Never seeming stoked about the sport, and getting coached by some fat middle aged man who doesn't seem to care about the fact that there are sick mountains surrounding them. I know that's a ridiculous generalization and not all racers are even remotely similar to this, but the clubs I see are like that. It's probably because the rich area of Vancouver is literally 5 minutes away from the mountain, so it's not like they have to be stoked to shred or dedicate any time, they just have to be bored...
What I think it all comes down to is ignorance to others' opinions, really. I don't understand racers, so I find it easy to judge them first. Just like oldschoolers hating on snowboarders. It's just easy to do when you don't understand who you're talking about.
