So I'm planning a trip to tucks for this upcoming sunday, anyone done it before and have advice. i figure its probably about a 3 hour hike to the actually ravine and we wanna be skiing down in the early afternoon (around 1 or 2 at the latest) any tips would be great
what experience do you have in the backcountry and in mountaineering? if your unexperienced and have no equipment besides your skis and boots, the ski patrol may turn you back regardless of conditions.
i don't have too much experience but im gonna borrow a skiing backpack, beacons, an avalanche shovel, etc. plus im going with a kid who is certified in avalanche safety/rescue and mountaineering rescue so i should be all set in that regard
borrowing it is all good, but without be trained in the use of it yourself, you may as well leave it in the car. im not talking like you friend giving you a brief rundown. im talking mock burials, avy courses, the works. youre all set if your the one whose put in danger, but you need to be able to assist your friend and it doesnt sound like youre prepared to do so.
