personal opinion - too dark for one, at least on my laptop it seems so, should be bright enough so his eyes stand out from the rest of his face more.  why don't you make the dog the center of you shot, the grass just doesn't seem interesting enough to waste space on.  way to much of it in the forefront in the first pic, and in your second pic you almost cut the dog off out of your picture but have all this boring grass in it???

i have to agree with the post about, i like a brighter shot.
also i dont know what kind of editing you did/can do to the first one, but i would consider doing some crop work on the grass.

but still nice pictures, and i like your dog.

Rule of thirds, adds something to the picture instead of just  a centered subject, objects in the dead center tend to make things boring and not creative at all.

I would get rid of all the grass below your dog like in the second picture, it isn't really adding anything to the picture and IMO its just distracting from the main subject.

are you saying all that grass is exciting and creative?  i didn't mean put the dog in dead center but it seems like he was exaggerating the rule to the max in those pictures.  the rule is just a guideline that only works when done properly, a more interesting back ground might help,

the second one is def to dark and not centered in the slightest bit.

have you ever thought of shooting with film?

and yea, i was going for a film look here. i shot film for a few semesters in high school and this year i wanna see if i can use my colleges dark room. film > digital IMO by a lot!
