Question on Look PX12, rubberish thing between ski and binding

Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but I am going to get my things mounted for next season and this is the first time ive bought a ski setup because i started skiing again, the look px12si got came with like a rubber thing that goes under the binding b4 u screw it into the ski.

my question is:
What does it do? just for looks? dampens? etc?

cuz on the manual thing it shows pics with it on and without so i want to know if i should just add it in there when mounting.

Damper, you got it. How well it works... can't really tell you. I have one px mounted with it and another set without. Can't really tell the difference. but if you have it, might as well put it on.

be careful of screw length. since they came with it the screws might be a tad bit longer to accommodate it, therefor if you dont mount them with it on there is a possibility of the screw penetrating the base of your ski....

its nothing but a 2 mm lift i believe. my friend has them and they aren't even rubber, they are plastic. but you should just mount them up with it so the screws don't go through the ski

The rubber thing is a damper, as mentioned above. It is not meant to be a cushion on landings, obviously 2-3mm of rubber don't do anything as far as cushion on your feet. It is really made to protect the holes fromstriping/ the binding from ripping out by giving the binding the some flex and dampening. This is ideal when landing backseat or to far forward. also protects you from Stripping/Bending the track on your heel piece

I have 2 setups - with and without the dampener thingys. I cannot find any difference whatsoever.

i have some p12 jibs which have no dampeners (unless you count a 1mm thick piece of plastic in the heelpiece a "dampener") and they are perfectly situated on the ski.

the px12 jibs i have on another setup feel no different, and even though they are maybe 4 mm higher on the ski, dont really change the feel much.. so.. yeah.. its all kickass.
