I was hitting up some rails and after my skis felt sticky. No problem so I gave them to my grampa to hot wax since he works at some shop. So he tells me that I'm going to need new skis next year because I take all of those 'bars' I told him it's called P-Tex and I'm wondering if when your edges get rounded from the rails can you get them sharpended. And K2 dosn't cover rails in thier warrenty right?

yes you can but eventually you'll run out of edge to sharpen.

Of corse you can sharpen them - just ask your gramps for an edge sharpener. or buy one there like $10- but like someone said, eventually you'll run out of edge, and then, I'd keep the skis for rail skis and get new ones that won't touch the rail

sorry fucktard, i slide rails with a flat base, so my edges dont round out. unless you're sliding with your edges digging into the rail, they shouldnt round out quickly

Yes, eventually you do run out, but you need to sharpen the edges like 1000x so there is nothing to worry about.

yeah but you don't want crazy sharp edges on rails anyway. take a pair of race skis, sell them, buy twin tips, and then use your shitty twins for urban/fucking around and use your new twins for everything else.
anyway edges are overrated. I'm all about the 4 year old 1080's with no edge. it keeps it interesting especialy on ice.
check it.

TURNING! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! sorry for the outburst...I'm trying to put my racer days behind me...
a benefit of racing is knowing what the fuck to do with a ski. if you don't want to lose a shitload of edge (believe me, you will trying to sharpen those edges back to normal), just use a Diamond Stone, which is like a file except it kinda warms up the edge and makes it pliable, and with half an hour of work should mold your edge back (but don't ski on them right afterwards, instead put them in the cold so the edge can harden back up). Also, edges can NOT be replaced, because they're built into the base, sidewall, and cap, making it impossible to just yank out without screwing your skis in the pooper.

I love it when a nice fat burr puts a sweet little dent in your edge. Boy that makes me oh so happy.
