Freestyle boots vs. not having a pair of freestyle boots

Yup, topic says it all.

I have a pair of Dalbello Proton 8's now. Kind of a mid-range downhill boot. But its heavy as shit.

What are your thoughts on the advantages of buying a dedicated pair of freestyle boots?

The advantages, etc.

if they're fitted properly, there's no difference. look at anyone riding for Lange, are they wearing the Lange freestyle boot? NO! Justin Dorey wears the Lange Comp. Last year, the guys were wearing the baby blue race boot.

I've got Salomon X-Wave 10's. Very solid boot for slaying all mountain stuff. I am not really a park rider but when I do go into the park they just seem incredibly heavy. They just seem like they are a little harder to maneuver then a lighter boot. I plan to spend some more time in the park next year and may pickup a pair of freestyle boots.

As previously stated - FIT is the most important part about buying new boots.  Go to a bootfitter and see what works best for your feet.  I happen to fit into Salomon boots well, so I went to a fitter and ended up with SPK Kaos'.

They're a lot lighter than my older X-Wave 8's, have a stiffer flex, and a lot more padding...which is pretty much the difference between boots geared for freestyle and boots geared for all-mountain exploring.

So if you're looking for something a bit lighter with more padding, checkout a range of freestyle boots, but only buy what fits your feet well, else you'll hate life.

i skied park last year in technica race pro 130s. it was fine minus the fact tht they were 4 sizes small. now have spk pros which are much better for park but they are great all mountain(110 flex). just get what fits!

Well this girl had a pair of Dalbello Krypton Lotus boots from 07-08, and they are more of a freestyle boot. I tried them on and was like holy hell these are light.

This guy i go to says they have like shock beds and shit in them.

I was just wonderign if there was any advantage other than freestyle boots being signifcantly lighter.

I know fit is most important. If I buy a boot it damn well better fit right. But it sounds like I need to get another pair of boots to lighten my load.

i was on lange banshees for a good amount of time because they fitted well... never had any problems in the park with them.

a freestlye boot has padding in the heel so they can handle a hard impact, also they arent as stiff as a racing boot so you dont as bad shinbang

The difference in weight between some boots can be enormous (like in my case when I grabbed a pair of SPKs...for 50 bones new!)  In my case it was a huge difference as I lost a full pound off of my feet.

idk the main thing for me is shinbang when i had raceing boots it was terrible . yes most freestyle boots are lighter but boot wieght doesnt really effect swingwieght. i would go freestyle for the shock absorbtion and stiffer tongue

park boots make skiing park easier. i got hot doggers after using old heavy nordica all mountain boots and skiing was more fun in general.

jon olsson is riding a Head raptor atm, which is a race boot... the raptor and mojo boots are very similar anyway
