im learning about the cold war right now, so ill make an attempt...

although the world was being conquered by the iron fist of russian communism, president truman strived to contain the threat of a third world war with brinkmanship. (i learned this today - brinkmanship is the act of getting right on the verge of conflict, but avoiding it) hope that helped.

argue the roots of the cold war... debate the issue by talking about shit like Patton wanting to march through Berlin to seize moscow, about churchill speaking about Russia and coining the phrase "the iron curtain" and MacArthur feeling it necessary to drop an atomic bomb on communist china during the korean war. You can then talk about the French getting their asses handed to them at dien bein phu and bring it all together by trying to flesh out when the cold war actually began.
