no, not wrong....you wouldn't know unless you were me. I had an incredible amount of freedom growing up. My parents taught me from a really young age to be an individual, to think individually, and to solve problems individually. They gave me all the freedom in the world and had the utmost trust in me. I never broke that trust. I got to college and saw all the kids who had sheltered lives going nuts just because they could and they were FINALLY away from their parents. It wasn't like that for me.

so you have less freedom now still? you might have been all individual and whatnot before school, but you can't tell me that having the freedom to do what you want, eat what you want, go to class when you want...you decide everything. i get how you may have had a lot of freedom, but i still don't think you have less freedom now. unless your school has like curfews or like weird truancy police. hahah

college has been great for me. I don't mind the work because its not "filler work" for the most part. The work I do here actually MEANS something, its not just a grade.

College has also gotten me more involved. In HS, I did jack shit for extracurriculars. Now I'm in a advisory committee to the dean of my school, and i find myself going to career fairs for fun haha

college life is a hell of a lot more schedule than home life was. Plus, I could eat whatever I wanted at home, and unlike college, the food at home is good haha, its not juiced up with ex lax either. I guess my bowels experience more freedom. The freedom of choosing whether or not to go to class is a bad example. I'm not in college to skip class. I'm paying a shitload of money to be here, not to skip class, so I'm going to get the best education I can.

the food is a good point. for me, i cook my own food and buy what i want at the grocery store so i guess for me i definitely have more freedom. and i know about the class thing, but the fact that you can skip it gives you way more freedom than going to highschool, which skipping is more of a big deal (i mean, its not but in college no one gives a fuck if you miss class). and more schedule? i don't get that. for me, i go to class 11-2 tuesday and thursday. and then 5-8 on tuesday night. in highschool, it was 730-215 or something. and i didn't get to choose my classes or pick the times. now i have the freedom to pick what and when i want.

i'm not trying to like fight with you, i'm just trying to get a different perspective. and its just different than what i'm doing so i'm just curious. not trying ot be disrepectful or whatnot.

College is great. Days off during the week. Sleep into 8 every day. Awesome.

Work sucks but you have money. There is the catch 22.

When you are in college you have a shit load of free time but no money, and when you are working you have no free time and money to burn.

And to you whiners who say you have too much work in college can fuck off. I never took less than 15 credits in engineering and I had time up the ass.

I like it. The work does suck but I find it satisfying to get done, when I actually do it. Also I'm in Fine Arts, so 3 of my classes are studios, which don't suck, because there is more freedom to make whatever you want. My other 2 classes involve a lot of work which does suck though.

I'm doing my senior thesis on freestyle skiing. Pretty much the best way to end a college career. Can't beat getting class credit to ski.

For me its different .  A lot of the work I have to do isn't necessarily "filler work," but almost everything I do is for the grade, doesn't really mean that much.

I'm sorry man but your argument is completely irrevelant. Pretty much the only reason you came up with for having less freedom is going to class. and you had way more freedom at home cause you could do what you want. butttt your going to school to get the "best education you can"
1.did you go to highschool?
and 2. how can you classify going to class as less freedom when you choose to get an education? It's like saying i buy new clothes everyday because i love fresh shit, but paying for them sucks...it comes with your choice.

and really going to class is less freedom? i'd say its 10x more freedom from high school where you can choose what classes you want and when and to top it all off you have about 17hrs of class a week where high school you had 30+ hours a week

Jr college sucks.  I go to lots of parties, but I would probably be at those parties anyway.  I hook up with lots of chicks....who I probably would have met anyway.  I have work full time.  And I have one day off a week, which is for skiing, and after the season is over, I'm going to have to work that day again, I need the money.

Real college will probably be fun, but I'm still going to have to work full time.  All you kids that just get to go to school don't know how easy you have it.  If I didn't have a job I would probably have one letter grade higher in all my classes at least.

I took out loans when I was in college and I am paying them off now. I also worked a little but going instate college is like 5k a year. I also had some small scholarships and my freshman year was free.

I guess I can't speak for other majors but other than test weeks I would do like an hour of homework a night. I paid for myself to go to school and my parents didn't give me a dime for school. They did pay for my phone and car insurance and shit when I was in school so I have to give them that.

I guess if your like an English major or something that requires a lot of writing you would have less free time but everyone I know in Boulder has way less school work than I did.

ya that kid sucks ass. He was in Havasu for spring break, he played the same song twice (that college song) then he jumped in the pool. And he was the only one, kind of sad. Plus he sounded like shit. Plus there was no one in college there just a bunch of affliction t's and tats. Gay...

woah my comp just freaked out and posted one word so sorry for double post..  but

that is pretty much y im having a not great time at college and suck at the work.. i really need to figure out wut i want to do then i think i will be more motivated to do the work. college is hard if it doesnt feel like you're working towards anything and its just never gonna end.

i love it. The work can be hard, but its all good stuff that you'll actually use. (not doing worksheets on random shit) Plus for some reason, parties in college are just that much better after a long week. (or in some cases, after a hard night of drinking on thursday)

tottaly overhyped... I partied way harder everynight in highschool with my homies who didn't end up going to school. we had no responsibiliities nothing really mattered no consequences. now.. life just really suck, you get in trouble your prolly going to jail, school is hard.

I miss being a kid.  for all you youths enjoy it while you can, being in trouble with the law sucks something fierce, and college is no joke.

it is indeed a fact, beleive it or not, split a handle a night between 4 or 5 of us pretty much at least 4 or 5 nights a week, we'd drink at lunch at school and go to class all fucked up, and then usualy continue after school. ahhh the good oll days!!!!!!!!!

50 pages sucks. I'm working on a fucking 50 pager about the fur trade in colonial america. Sick subject, but the writing is crippling. I'd much rather be writing a novel or some shit..I think about writing novels more than writing academically these days.

nice, yeah I was gonna ask you about yours. I have to start thinking about writing my honors thesis. Did that process begin junior year for you? Also, when did you start writing, and did much research go into it? I'm trying to get a good idea of it so I can go into mine with a little more confidence. Right now it just seems like a really daunting task that will take up my entire junior and senior year.
