i might, im also considering COC, but i hear whistler didnt get much snow.  also its $500 more for COC, and i hear the coaching is less structured.  also t-wall is the shit!

Yeah - Hood is the Place this SUmmer. In the middle of a snowy month and we are hitting 520 inches for the season thus far. Average is Under 500 usually

hey dude, I'm Graeme from the Camp of Champions. We had rough start to the season in Whistler, but we're in great shape now. last week we received over 160 cm's on fresh snow with more on the way and we have over 3 metres on snow on the glacier. Our park will live up to it's reputation this summer, despite the rumours you may be hearing.

Also our rates are in canadian, so we're actually the same price as Windells when you exchange US dollars to Canadian dollars.

You get an assigned coach, and coaching group. It's structured, very structured with your coaching group being similar in age, ability level and terrain preferences (jumps or rails or pipe or everyting). However you are not forced to ski with your coach, so if you want to take a few laps on your own or with your friends, you are free to do that

Also we're located right in Whistler, at the base on the mountain, so there is no long bus ride to the hill everyday.

seriously?  only 3 hours on the hill?  45 min from mountain?  Why dont they tell you this shit on the web site.  i have to admit the COC web site is the most professional shit ever.  It really made my decision hard at first (when i thought windells was my choice) but now i reconsider.

i dont know what he meant by "off the hill at noon" but you dont just get 3 hours on the hill, you get all day. windells is really sick and has a lot of off hill activities and shit so your always havin fun. i havent been to COC but i am sure it is dope too

I think my final decision is going to be COC.  just because 45 min bus ride isn't what im lookin to do.  Also, the dorm and compound at COC look cooler than the "campus" at windells.

SEE!? thats the kind of professionalism that won my money.  COC has a professional site and they tell you everything you need to know.  Windells site is sketch, and i dont know what kind of information they can be hiding.  Also, the COC reps on NS is cool.

Hey dude,

If you think Canada is sick, you should check out Whistler! Winter or summer, this place is like a ski Disney land!

The only images I ever see of Windells park are cartoons or drawings. Do you mind if I ask what is it about their park that appeals to you more?

You should reconsider Windells, I loved that place.
I've been to both Windells and High North. I'm assuming COC doesn't stay on-hill. Getting up to the glacier will be just as long at Whistler, or longer. I'll be at Hood most of the summer if I get this job, I went to Windells last year and it was honestly the best summer camp ever.

You're all together all the time and you have a private DOPE skate park, olympic tramp with a foam pit next to it. I learned doubles off that so easy, it's just so much fun on-hill and off-hill. besides, you BUMP music on the way up. Just such stokedness around. Plus there are so many more skiers than boarders.

The highlight vids do look ILL.  however, i just cant get past the shitty-ness of windell's web site.  I can make a better web page than that!  It took me a while just to figure out how to get to certain pages.  This makes me think COC is more successful and professional because they invest time and money into things such as their web page.  They both look sick and I've heard great things about both, but I just dont know what surprises i might get at windells, and the COC park looks sick.

thats not the point.  my point is, at windells i didnt know i was gonna have to ride 45 min each way, and the information was misleading.  What else do i not know?  You gotta put yourself in my shoes, with no prior camp experience, what do i have to judge a camp on other than what im told and the website?

ya when i went to windells last year i just hated hiking, now with the ropetow its pretty much perfect. That and theyre re doing BOB and the cabins.

I agree both would be fun, and i will probably do both over the next 2 summers, but i really want to pick the one that is best for me (as far as coaching structure, coaches, facilities, activities, location (whistler is a huge bonus of COC)).  stuff like that is what im interested in.  is there anyone on here that has been to both COC and windells and can give a very in depth comparison?

I have never seen so much COC talk from people that work their in a while. Must be desperate for some signups. Alls I know, is Hood has recieved 540 inches thus far and whistler is sitting on 300 inches.

they tellin you its better cause they give you access to their dorm now

Actually our sign ups are up to date over last season. We've been posting on this site for three years and in the summer we do daily park updates, so technically we're posting less now than we usually do.

In regards to snow, we have over 3 metres of snow on our glacier right now and have received nearly 200 cm of snow in the last two weeks. The average snowpack on the glacier by summer time is 4 - 4.5 metres and we're on track to have that this summer. Our snowpack sits on top of glacial ice while hood's snow sits on top of dirt and rock, and our window of operations is shorter then hoods, so we don't need as big a snowpack as hood does.

So long story short, we're not desperate, we just love this site.

Hey Antoine,

Long time no see! You came to pro camp with your brother Xavier last year. Those are pretty harsh words dude. Bummed to hear you werent that stoked dude, but I wish you told us last year at camp when we could have done something about it.

Pro camp did not get the same service levels as regular campers. Pro camp only included access to the park, lift tickets and lunch and the rest was up to you. It was priced super low, because service was minimal.

Finding low priced accomodation in Whistler is next to impossible, but we had managed to find two hostels/dorms last year that would partner with us for Pro camp. Unfortunately some of the Pro campers staying at those two places caused so much trouble, they did not want any Pro campers staying there this coming summer. So we lost our two accommodation partners in Whistler for Pro camp. The only other hotel options available would cost more in two or three nights, then the hostels cost for two or three weeks. Without low priced accommodation for Pro campers, pro camp does not work. So our only option was to put Pro Camp in the Dorm, but its unfair to other campers who pay for Deluxe camp to have pro campers accessing all the same facilities as they do, so we had to change the entire concept for Pro Camp. Now it is a full camp option, minus coaching.

We're as bummed as you and unfortunately a few people have ruined it for everyone. Any way, I hate to read posts from bummed campers, but i hope this helps you understand the reason behind the changes.

You didn't have to defend yourself, if you get to ski a sick park in any location, doesn't matter if its hood or whistler, all day for a week or two during the summer you should not be bummed on your camp. especially if it's cheap.
