So are Sony and Macintosh compatible?

I got a sony video camera and I tried hooking it up with my Macbook and it wont pick it up. I've searched around on the web but most places say they aren't compatible. Just thought I'd get a straight answer before I take it back.

what cam? my school uses sonys and the whole school is macs. but if you do take it back, get a canon. love mine and it works perfect with my mac

alright there shouldn't be a problem in the first place..
i cant find anything talking about any problems with sony cameras/macs.. unless you get into old stuff

Well the thing is I have the new Macbook without the firewire port... most things I read say that the cam need a firewire cable...

well i have a older macbook, it only works with the firewire port, i doubt thats any help

ooh so that WOULD be a problem for you, haha
look up some ethernet to firewire adapters and you'll be set

my friend had problems with this, hes got a macbook pro and a handycam and he has to order a special cord which theyre really hard to find i geuss
