Headphones in, still getting sound through speakers

why am i still getting sound through my speakers even though my headphones are plugged in?  i've googled a shit ton and haven't found anything to fix the problem....

if you have 2 headphone jacks sometimes if you plug into the 1st one it will still paly sound, but if yu plug into the 2nd one the sound will stop. idk, thats what happened on my PC

nope just have 1 jack on the front, not even one in the back

just go to your sound driver and look around for options.

Try plugging into the green jack on your soundcard rather than the speakers?

just by looking at pics on that site, i can tell you there def is a jack in the back for speakers. are you plugging the headphones into the jack on the tower, or on the speakers?

theres probably somthing wrong with the wiring or the connection.  it could be worn out

I would imagine its either a setting in your control panel, or the jack has worn out.

When you insert the headphones they make contact with a mechanism that acts as a switch letting the computer know to mute the speakers. Its possible this mechanism is broken or bent so it does not make contact.
