Amplid Skis

I made a thread like this in the amplid cult, but I think I might get some more answers here.  Just for the record, I did searchbar a lot and I found a lot of info, but not enough.

First of all, I'm 16 (17 in April) am 5'8 and 140 lbs.  I'm gonna grow a little, but not very fast or much.  I'm looking at a few different skis for solely park use:  Line Anthems, Amplid Antidogmas, and Amplid Townships.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Line Anthems and am very close to buying them, but I want more opinions.  I'm fairly new to park (not skiing)  but am progressing fast, and want to get a lot better at park and urban (not pipe).  I'm looking for a ski that would be a great urban ski because I live in NYC and want to get better at it, and also a great park ski, because I mainly ski in VT and want to seriously improve my park skiing.

I want to know a few things: how flexy are the amplid antidogmas and townships?  Should I go for the 172 or 178 in the antidogma?  171 or 178 in the Line Anthems?  If I get the Township I'm def getting the 176.

What ski do you think would be the best for me?  Throw as much as you know about these skis, especially the amplids.

I know you asked about the amplids, but having never skied them i can only make assumptions as you can. However a few words on the anthems - funnest skis ive ever been on, can tackle anything the mountain can throw at you as long as you know how to ski. Im definitely not a rail/urban guy though, so no comment on their ability there. Ive got an old review of my anthems from last year somewhere too...anyways the amplids, seeing how T-wall and the rest of their riders slay rails on the antidogmas, as well as looking at dimensions, id say it may be more of your urban type ski compared to the anthems...however i have no basis besides speculation so there ya have it i guess...woo!

The antidogmas are for park and the townships are for urban.  Between these two get whichever one you will do more of.   simple as that.  I have the anthems (octolands more specifically), and love them.  Great ski all around, super playful and better than I thought for carving.  Needless to say superb carving switch and on rails and good even on decent sized jumps.  Possibly not the best for your dub cork 12 on an 80 footer.  Biggest complaint is durability.  Skied only 12 days on them and topsheet is heavily chipped, pretty deep in places, and my tail is delamming.  Hopefully warranty these suckas, but don't expect more than a few seasons of hard use.  good luck

Not really true; and yes I've ridden both.  You can't just go by graphics and marketing mumbojumbo.  Township is a super solid mid-level park ski for the price - AD is higher-end, lighter weight, with additional features (abuse base). 

BTW, Amplid sometimes uses the term urban differently on their website, cause the euro market sees it mainly a fashion/style thing.

yep it says right on the box they come in. "townships, for urban use only. this ski will not be capable of skiing anywhere else"

jk, its just their softer park ski so in turn that's the ski their riders use during urban

Ok, you say you've ridden both, so could you tell me the difference in flex?  Durability?  Is the Township more urban oriented than the Antidogma?

Any other info would be great.

And thanks to everyone's participation in this thread, it's helping a ton.

Yeah, haven't you heard?  if you take the armada pipe cleaners out of the pipe they'll self destruct or the Hellbents in anything under 2 feet of freshies will automatically pre-release. 

Anyway, I know that any ski is going to be a bit more versatile than what its designed for.  It's just that you should buy a ski based on what you will ski mostly, and for the townships that are made for urban, thats what they are intended for.  if you're a lighter guy or just want a super playful ski in the park, then go for it.

Ok Ok... we need to clear up some of the perceptions of the Township.

It is not designed for urban ONLY!!! Yes some of the marketing makes it seem that way but the Township is an ALL-MTN park ski that's durable enough for urban use.

As mention correctly above the term "urban" in europe is more of a lifestyle term which obviously does not correctly translate here in NA.

amplids cost alot but are really legit. i would go with the anthems

go with Anti-Dogmas... it seems that the Anthems have durability issues, and you might as well drop some more cash, if it means your skis last longer

Ive got the townsips. They are pretty stiff, and SUPER stable! Ive ridden them for one season now (35-40 days with park skiing) And they look almost as new as when I got them. Really durable skis!

the antidogmas are at par with the township its just the AD is lighter with better durablity. Its a bit of a chore to find these skis as well... unless you live in west US. Id go with the anti dogmas but for the price you should go with the anthems cuz its still a sick ski and the price is allllllot better.
