so first off, i'm not asking whats a career so that i can ski alot. that i dont see a problem to be. i just need ideas for what i want to do. i was gunna be an engineer, but this was mainly because my dad is forcing me to be one, even though i officially dont want to. i want to be a commercial pilot, but my dad doesnt take me seriously for that because when i go flying in his 4 seater, mooney to be specific, i feeling like puking because the dashboard goes so high that you cant see shit.
so to my main question, what do you guys do? i need ideas for what i want to do, because i'm sick of design shit that is pointless like homes. it fucking sucks. the course i'm talking about is tech design.

Flying is definitely not a career to pursue if you want to ski a lot man but if that's what you really wanna do, I say go for it.  I've never been in a Mooney so I don't know if the console is higher than other single engines but if you don't get sick flying commercially now I don't think you will when you're a pilot.  4 seaters get tossed around a lot easier than a bigger plane.  Also, aviation is kinda bust right now, not too much money to be had as a pilot

see i dont see it as a slowing career. my dad's friend made a career of it, he flies cargo planes, and he makes soo much money now, its unbelievable, and he tells me to become a pilot cuz they're constantly highering, especially for the fact that once a pilot gets old and his vision goes bad, he cant work, so he has to be fired for the safety of passengers.

i make websites..... i work at home and sometimes make a lot of money.

But I'm going to school for technical apparel production so I can work in the outerwear area of the ski industry.

i think designing houses would be fun. but thats me and this is about you. but i mean engeineers design everything so maybe there is something you would like to design?

i would do something with planes, but for now, we're as far as we can get. not astronomy or w/e that shits called. after the flying wing was designed, the only shit left to do is unmaned vehikles, and thats already being done.

i guess joining the military wouldn't be that bad.

i think this is what i want to do. im really good at it, and its pretty fun. a company here that makes flash websites said theyd give me an internship over the summer, but i still got a few years to think about it.

1. yes, my dad has his won 4 seater.
2. i am by no means rich. my parents make average income, like most people i know with planes, he bought it used, and it is a plane built in 1965. to get money, all he did was invest in gold stocks back before the recession.
3. just because my dad owns a small plane, i am in NO ways spoiled. i pay for all my own, except for close, because i dont have a job, yet...

I'm working on music composition, already doing the equivalent of a 3rd year project at some universities, I'm composing a song for the band at my school, so I should be ok for the actual composing part, but to get into music I need to do a play test which basically needs to be grade 10 songs, which will be tough.

You could get a career in ski resort management or some kind of sports management, I know a guy who works at a ski resort co-ordinating race lanes and race training space, gets paid well and spends ALOT of time skiing.

my dad is a commercial pilot and has been for 25+ years. with 25k + flight hours. (last time i asked him anyway)

be prepared to be payed absolute shit, until you move up the food chain.

yes your hours can suck, but its a trade off you have to be prepared to make, allot of people ask me is it weird to have had your dad gone for so much of your childhood? (im 19 now) and in some ways yes it sucked not having a 9-5 dad, but on the flip side having full days off is a nice trade off.

i think obviously one of the sickest things about the job is free flight benefits, its gonna suck when i loose them.

My dad owns two...an old Wilga cargo plane that he's fixing up and a Grumman Tiger. But as far as an Aerospace career, I say go for it. There still is loads to be done as an airplane designer by making planes lighter, more fuel efficient, and faster. Hell you could design space shuttles. There are pretty much unlimited oppertunities with Aerospace. I loved airplanes and wanted to be an Aerospace engineer, but i think im going to go for mechanical and maybe work or design on cars, where my bigger interest lies.

do it because you love flying. not because you have this grandiose idea of a "fly boy"...
awhile ago i asked my dad how much money he thought it would cost to become an airline pilot (starting at the VERY bottom) and he estimated atleast  100k. by the time you have college out of the way, build up flight hours on different instrument sets, planes, etc. 

now i dont know how accurate that is, but its spendy to say the least.

that being said, i cant imagine said i cant imagine my dad having any other career. he is a pilot, he loves to fly.

as the son of a pilot, its something you learn to live with. some times its great that your dad is leaving for 4 days.(if you get my drift) other times it would be really nice if he was coming home at 6pm.

i absolutely LOVE the flight benefits. i get to take another ski trip to Alta coming up in 2 weeks. a couple of weeks ago I flew to Washington DC for the day just for the hell of it. i have until i am 23 (have to be attending college) to fly for free, and while i have been to a healthy majority of the U.S., you better believe i have a nice list of trips i plan to take in the next couple years.

there can be major downsides too though. one of them being in the time following 9/11 my dad took roughly a 40% paycut.

You definatly dont have to be in the airline industry to fly either. One of my dads friends started his own cropdusting business in the summer and makes about 50-60 grand in the summer, and that includes aircraft maintanence. So thats a pretty fucking good deal.

i've grown tired of the design shit i do in tech design. the thing is last year one of my teachers had an industrial engineer come in, and what he was doing was sick. my school doesnt have a drafting program, we have a tech design one, and my school specializes in landscape design, because the one teacher who teaches it, has a degree in that, or actually i should say diploma. i was thinking of just dropping it next year, and having a spare while keeping my other courses, but on the other hand, i FUCKING hate chemistry. some parts are fairly easy, but some parts are so fucking hard i have no idea wtf is going on.

/rant.

im in school for getting my dr. in physical therapy (DPT). Im hoping to work under someone for a good 5-8 years, and then open up my own practice. Ive been to a few practices before for rehab, and they make BANK, its alot of school, but if u have ur own practice u can pretty much do whatever u want, and have plenty of of time for ski trips and nice wants such as those.

i my self was a engineering major, changed that shit now im transferring to do what i actually want to do. im going to school in florida starting next fall for professional golf management. ill be studying to become a head pro at a course. should be dopeeeee
