And its not as if no one has ever made any negative comments about american soldiers.

I'm sorry if a few comedians on a show specifically created to "shock people"  that airs at 3am offends you so much. And they already apologized over it and said it was inappropriate and should not have been said

yea, like i already said, you have to take into account that the show is on at 3am on weekdays. I'm willing to bet that all they accomplished with this publicity stunt is losing whatever few viewers they already had. This show doesn't even get respect from americans, so its more than reasonable that the people they actually offend should hate it. I'd bet if they said that shit about american soldiers, they'd all be fired.

no, it means the show has no real credibility.

Honestly i think we all need to just get over it. Yes, it was offensive and inappropriate, so let's just move on. They already apologized etc, let the issue drop. Instead by keeping it going you just keep giving a bunch of 2nd rate shitty comedians more popularity

That video was stupid, not even funny, and I'm sad that other nations pick those out and assume that these people epitomize our nation.

I don't understand why all of the Canadians in this thread are poking at the US, since your military works directly with ours across the world.  It is much smaller or course, but they are stationed at the same bases, and work in the same facilities on the same missions!  I worked with an entire squad of Canadian Air Force for a month this summer!  They were all great people and had nothing bad to say about my country, and I had nothing bad to say about theirs.  It seem that the Canadians in this thread are more concerned with my country and my leaders than their own.

If you don't actually know what your talking about from experience (rather than solely the media), then you are ignorant yourself (not directed at anyone in particular, just a general statement).

I think Newschoolers is a great thing since it proves that our countries are pretty much the same.  I can roll through ski gabber and I couldn't tell you who is Canadian and who is American just by looking, and quite frankly I couldn't give a damn.

Given that Canada has been in charge of the NATO mission in Afghanistan for years now, NATO being in command of all military operations since 2006, the fact that one of the guests didn't even know Canada was IN Afghanistan speaks volumes about their credibility on this and all subjects. Basically it would appear that in order to have your voice heard on Red Eye, the only necessary qualification is that you be a complete moron. The question "Have any of the people on this show ever served a day in their lives" hangs in the air...

Canada has lost 116 soldiers in Afghanistan during our involvement, roughly twice as many per capita as the United States, so Canadian sacrifices in response to an attack on your country probably shouldn't be trivialized whether they're "just joking" or not.

The thing with something like this, is that so many people in the states actually will believe this shit. Especially if it's on fox.

It's shown perfectly with "Steeze540" or whatever saying "whats so bad? they're just stating facts". Why even help the war that didn't need to be started if we're just gonna be pushed aside as being a joke. 116 soldiers have died from Canada working at a cause that didn't need to be started, don't joke around with that shit when lives were lost because of greed and stupidity.

Canada would be useless without the US to the south. Even though you guys have repelled multiple attempts at US annexation during the rev war, war of 1812, civil war civil war, Aroostook war, oregon crisis, etc.you people have succumbed to American economic annexation. Ever since the branch plant movements in the late 1800s, Canada has been privy to an American dominated economy. You could cite the invasion of Samuel Gompers and the AFL (american labor continentalism,) reciprocity,  the great migrations (last best west/french canadian exodus to new england.) the list goes on forever. Fact of the matter is, without the US, you guys would be fucked. The truth hurts. Im not bashing Canada, they are our most important ally, I'm just saying, Macdonald's National Policy may have kept US territorial designs at bay, but his high tariff wall paved the way for US economic hegemony in Canada. Not to mention, the NHL wouldn't be shit today if US investment hadn't popularized it in the 1920s, and how for a good deal of time, American Baseball was the most popular sport in Canada.

an overwhelming majority of the Canadian population is concentrated within 60 miles out the US border. That should give you a hint as to Canadian dependence on the US.

Also, I wouldn't say Canada has a perfect record with ignorance either. You guys forced Indian's off their land just like we did. You kicked thousands of Acadians out of Canada and forced them south to New Orleans and Louisiana. The black loyalist population who fled to canada still experienced racism and discrimination and race-based violence. When Sitting Bull fled to Canada, the government allowed him to stay, but he ultimately had to move back to the US because they would not supply his people with food. Blacks and eastern Europeans were discriminated against in the Western land rush in Canada, and blacks were restricted access to land. Canda is not the paragon of progression most people make it out to be. Sure, it is better than the US in terms of race relations.

Also, I think a lot of Canadians are through with their initial swooning of Obama. He poses a threat to free trade and the ties to American markets and consumers Canada depends on. Also, he is not pulling troops out of Afganistan, a big reason why the Canadians were interested in him in the first place was because he pledged an end to war. Also, Obama totally snubbed the brits on more than one occasion, so the repercussions have began to make their way to Canada, a country who still remains very proud of its British heritage.

hahah I'm not sure. I think Canada/US relations is wicked interesting because before, I really didn't have much of an idea about the complicated relationships the countries share. What I like most about it are the Canadian Theses where brilliant canadian historians like Harold Innis and Goldwin Smith debate over Canada's chances of staying autonomous from the US. But yea, I don't quite know yet. The course is kinda a springboard course to spark interest, and my professor (David Massel) knows his shit and he makes it fun. At this point I don't know whether to pursue this track or just keep going with colonial US history, which is also rich with canadian aspects like the fur trade and the invasion of quebec and shit.

lol if we are going to talk about shitty media outlets, where is all the talk about the Grey Lady ( The NY Times) or the boston globe. Both newspapers are serious pieces of liberally biased trash rags. newspapers are already outdated and on their way out anyways. most of the people in the industry (at least the industry here in calgary, which i know quite well) have already prepared for the end by getting second jobs or entirely new jobs ahead of time.
