What is the most accurate paintball gun for the money?

So I have a spyder rodeo just for normal use. But I want to know what a great gun is for long range accurate shooting. Sniping to a degree.
I like the Tippman A5 and heard it is good. But what do you suggest. Gun, barrel, etc.
Im also not looking to spend tons of money so the best for a decent price what would you suggest?

well guns dont play a big part in accuracy, the barrel does, so pick up a stiffi barrel, or a freak kit if you use alot of different paint and you should be good.

yeah I didnt think the gun did to much, but i dont know much about paintball guns. I didnt know if the way they got the air to the ball and the way it is released made a huge difference.

But I did know the barrel plays a large role. So suggestions on those too. Maybe why they are good so I can learn or something would help too. +karma to people who help

PbR is more friendly (or was).

The gun does play a factor, and the regulator/inline/air tank reg. makes a huge difference in accuracy, barrel does, but don't think the myth "longer barrel = more acurate" is true, cause it most certainly isn't.  A lot of other factors come into play as well, what is your price range? I assume you're playing airball/hyperball/xball or some type of speedball... not some woodsball shit.

my fully loaded tippman 98 with a boomstick im trying to sell haha.  But seriously autocockers do to a degree have an impact on how it shoots a little bit.  I loved a flatline when i was playing woodsball but for the money a J J ceramic 14 inch is a prime barrel for any gun for a cheap price, ( do they still even make thoes haha)

alright, i used to be super into paintball so i know a lot. if you wanna spend the money to get a good gun get a tippman a5 with flatline barrel for an unbelievable gun. if you dont wanna spend that much get at 14 inch quality barrel, nothing from walmart.(get a barell that costs around 30-40$) then if you dont wanna spend that much get a 98 custom with flatline. the thing not only will be acurate but it will punch too. them things hurt alot more than any other thing around. tippman makes solid guns too so they are you best entry level brand. if you want something faster go with a spyder or smartparts. again the only key thing is the barrell. and dont go for a barell over 14", thats just overkill and slows the ball down too much.

Tippman flatline barrels are sick.  They do what they say, and I was surprised at how well it worked out.

I'd get a smart parts ion with an upped barrel like a freak kit or something. That would rip for a smaller amount of money.

it would rip, its an alright beginner gun. little more tech than most but it would do. only thing is you would need an air tank rather than co2... and to the OP what type of paintball are you going to be playing? woodsball or speedball?

only chop balls on the 98 custom, the a5 you hardly ever see chops, you only see balls breaking in the barrel if they are weak. that just says use higher quality balls though

Ill be using this gun not in an ordinary way. It will be a more slower paced stealthy style game in the woods. Kind of an attack and defend sort of scenario. Just a fun little thing we want to do while we are out playing normal games.
Like the attackers only have limited ammo to kind of simulate a sniper in real life only getting a shot or two on its target so its cover isnt blown and try to get a flag or what ever and have the other team only defend but must be a certain distance from the flag.  Its kind of hard to explain.
But I think I am going to go with an A5 and a flatline and my two friends have 98 customs they will just upgrade their barrel.

So looking on amazon does 128 for the basic A5 sound legit price wise and 78 for the flatline barrel?
Can 98 custom parts fit on the A5 does anyone know? I have a shit load of 98 parts sitting around

Try PbN, people on here obviously don't know shit about paintballing.  Flatline barrels are not really good.  Freak kits are alright, but you don't need a full kit for woodsball.  JJ ceramics are good barrels for cheap if they still make them, stiffi's are good but run around a C-note I think.  Don't go over 14 inches, get a good reg and an air tank first though.

...its been some years since I was in the scene though, I've been told cockers don't have the market presence they once did.

Anyway, best barrel for the price hands down is a Custom Products one piece.  It might not be the most technically advanced barrel in the world, but its accurate as all hell and only costs $30.

And remember, the most important factor for barrel accuracy is shooting paint that exactly matches the caliber of your barrel.  So find out the caliber of your local store's house paint, or whatever it is you shoot, and get a barrel that matches that caliber.

...unless your just a rich kid, then buy a freak system, its basically the best you can get.

Its really only worth running nitro through your gun if you have a high end gun that warrants it.  You won't notice much of a difference if your using nitro in a Tippy or Spyder or something.  I mean, there will be a difference, but you would get a bigger one buying a new barrel/bolt/other upgrades.

Deffinetly Tiberous arms paintball guns. There amazing and not to overpriced. They make a paintball that has fins That is 25x's more accurate than a normal paintball!!! there crazy accurate Guns aswell. I beleive there the guns used in the training of the U.S army http://www.tiberiusarms.com/

Switched to compressed air, it's a lot more consistent than CO2 because it's always in gas form, just compressed.  As for the flatline.  It's up to you.  I'd say borrow a friends or just mess around on one before you drop the cash on it, it's a lot of personal preference.  I hate them.  True you get freakish distance over stock, but they're real inconsistent laterally, and even though they get the distance, it's just putting backspin on it so it floats longer, not increasing velocity.  Therefore, they go further, but lack speed so they're not too hard to dodge/see coming.  Also, you can't shoot too quickly or they will break.  I don't care what you say they will break, feel the inside of the barrel, it is not smooth at all.  I'd say go for a normal barrel and compressed air.

I wouldn't say we don't know shit about paintballing haha. Flatline barrels are a crutch for tippman owners. They aren't that great because they change the flight path of the ball by giving it backspin as it goes up and out the flatline barrel. This gives it range but decreased performance.

People claim autocockers are the most accurate gone because of their consistency. I have a wgp autococker and I love it, it is really nice. I have a CP 12" one piece on it and the gun rips. My guess is that e-blading a cocker would be out of his price range, but it's an option to consider. Would I say it's the most accurate gun? Probably not, though it is slightly better than my old spyder esprit that had a 14" dye boomstick.

There isn't any reason for him to not have a freak kit if he can find one for the right price, but yes it isn't as necessary. JJ ceramics made great barrels, the reason they were so good was because the pain wouldn't stick to the inner ceramic surface so if you chopped a ball and had the right caliber balls for the gun it would clean the barrel completely over the next few shots. Either way, I would still say go with a smart parts ion and an upped barrel. It will be relatively cheap for a gun that completely rips if you have a quick trigger finger.

Ion Ion Ion, so damn cheap, a very reliable and fast marker and the price just keeps dropping. Right out of the box it is accurate as hell and the updgrades for it are almost unlimited.

ions are amazing guns, and very cheap also. right out of the box they kick ass, and you can upgrade them to compete with any gun on the market.

A-5's are super acurate, but unless you shell out the money for an e-grip or an response trigger, the rof blows

I haven't played paintball in a couple years, but when I did this was hands down the best bang for your buck. Smart Parts makes amazing guns, well beyond what their price range would indicate, and a Freak barrel kit will turn that thing into a slay machine overnight.

ok this thread is talking more about guns that are more towards speedball. your looking for a woodsball gun. go with a tipmann, flatline or not you will like it. if you have the cash go A5 if you dont go 98 custom. if you can try a flatline, see if you like it. if you do go with that. if you dont like the way the balls curve more upwards(you can easily get used to this) just get a 14" jj ceramic(dont know if they make them) or a smart parts progressive(dont know if they still make them). just make sure to get an upgraded barrel and not use a stock tipmann barell (too short) you will like a tippman over an ion anyday for woodsball, especially when it comes to power. you dont even need to up to compressed air. just for tooling around with your friends just stick with the co2 and have fun

18" would be way too long.. 14" max if you plan on sticking to the backfield, 12" is ideal for versatility, and 10" if you're a consistent front player. not only does length past 14" not add accuracy, it slows your paintballs down and reduces it, as well as limiting your range.

what kind of playing are you doing to? like if your playinf speedball/xball obvsly you want a different gat then if your playing woodsball. but ya get even like a jr. freak kit and i think your good pretty much. maybe a good bolt to.

CP one piece, is the best barrel for the money hands down.  Freaks are good kits but there are better kits out there, and barrel kits aren't needed, especially for woodsball where you can bring whatever bore paint you want, just match it to the CP one piece or get a 2 piece with like 2 backs for tourney paint and crap paint.

As far as cockers being the most accurate this is probably not true but when I had a cocker it seemed really sick (non-ebladed unfortunately).  Cockers are a pain if you don't know about guns though cause they have to be timed if they are not E-bladed.
The reason people say/said cockers were more accutrate is because they are closed bolt, which I think has been proven to not make that much of a difference as people originally thought back in like 2000.

Flatline barrels still suck.

Agreed on the Ion, I stopped playing about 7 months after they came out but they are a super solid beginner gun with plenty of upgrades and they are pretty durable.  Ion > Tippmans & Spyders. 

I'd still say most of these kids don't know shit about PB, few exceptions, you of course.  What kind of cocker did you have?  I went from a sick 04/05 upped cocker to a Viking to a completely custom 2.5 Dragon Timmy.

I had a pretty standard 2002 wgp autococker. Player primarily woods ball so I wasn't too serious in getting an amazing speedball gun. Still spent a long time researching what was out there tho and knew alot about guns a couple years ago. Dunno what has changed in the last 3-4 though, been kinda outta the game.

The game has changed like crazy.  I got out in 06 cause it was too hard to make 2 practices a week and toruneys on weekends.  Paintballing for me back then was like skiing is for NS'ers.  I wanna get back in the game so bad but I'm in college and poor.

I had the same gun, maybe a year or two difference, and honestly did not like it very much. It was so finicky, I had to fuck with it all the time, and until I got a new barrel the accuracy on it was pretty disappointing. Once I got a new barrel and uhm... fuck what were they called.. bolt, it worked like a dream though. Just sucked though, because I spent $350 which was a lot of money for me and expected it to be awesome out of the box and it took a lot more investing to get it where I wanted.

given that you know that accuracy is in the barrel, i will say that anything over 16 inches reduces accuracy, uses more gas and chops more balls. anything under 7 inches reduces accuracy, is louder, and will send dimpled balls at 90 degree angles from your muzzle. if your willing to drop coin on an expensive tipman set-up, get a 12-14 inch barrel that has a very subtly rifled bore. it you know how to arc your shots, you can hit accurately ( within the pysics of paintball) up to 200ft. my friend has one and he said it was not very expensive

That sucks, I traded like $50 and an upped spyder for a mint condition one and it worked flawlessly stock. Couldn't have been happier and it ripped.

if you have a tippman try a flatline berrel. for other guns i like boomsticks, freaks, stiffis, or teardrops. paintball isnt really about REAL accuracy tho

Ha I'm in the same boat as you.  Went to some paintball stores last summer because I got into airsoft a little bit (its so much fucking cheaper).

A lot of paintball guns look like real guns now and even have clips, I was like wtf?  I remember the whole point sort of being to make it look as little like a real gun as possible so nobody bitched.

Also I walked into a store that I remember having basically wall to wall cockers, and they had literally one up on the wall.

And JT jerseys and pants have pads sewn into them now lol.  I remember the point being that they were lightweight and breathable with as little material as possible.

#1. Get a nice barrel. Dye ULs and CP makes some very nice barrels. The Dyes are more expensive though.

#2. Get a 14 inch. The whole more length = more accuracy and range  is not true. The flatline does have longer range, but decreased accuracy.

#3. Get a barrel to suit your paint size. A $20 barrel will shoot better than a $100 barrel if the paint fits the barrel better. Freaks do well with this, although they cost alot to get differ bore sizes and whatnot.

#4. DO NOT GET AN ION!!!!!  Yes they are ok guns, but you need to spend ALOT OF MONEY upgrading them so they work ok. If you buy one, you would need a  new: Board, trigger, reg, barrel, feedneck, and asa. Thats around $150-$200 upgrading. Get a proto or mini.

what it all comes down to is, the barrel, i have a cheap spyder gun, no real problems with it, doesnt jam i dont need to shoot 2000 balls per round, and i got a teardrop barrel off ebay and it shoots like a dream

#1 - Flatline barrels suck. not worth anyone's time or money. If you want a barrel that spins your ball, go APEX and call it a day. /of that arguement

#2 - There's no one super accurate gun. You can buy a 98, put a better barrel on it, give it a compressed air tank and call it a day, it'll shoot pretty good. Or you can spend some more money. I just bought a CCI Phantom. I only played with it once so far, and from what I read and hear it trumps almost everything with no upgrades. When I took it out, it was damn accurate, shot darts all day. I'm just not used to pump yet.

#3 - go to pbreview.com. There's a bunch of reviews on everything paintball in there. Read up.

#4 - What are YOU going to be most accurate with? What do you use it for? You could go speedball and buy a gun 20BPS and you don't need super accurate if you're just going to make lines all day. What kind of sights do you like? do you want the offset hopper like tippmans use so you shoot with the gun straight up? Or do you want the direct feed straight above, so aiming requires a twist of the gun a bit. you need to figure out your style, and buy a gun that you're going to like.
