DVX users- question

Im going to start working on a music video of my friend's band. I plan on getting a shoot in his backyard because hes got a nice view of the city in the background and everything. Im hoping to get lots of lighting(work lights, fluorescent lights). I never film anything on my DVX at night, so all my colors settings are saved for sunny skiing days basically.

For anyone who has filmed with a dvx at night for anything, what should i set my scene settings to? I dont want any bizarre looking colors, i just wanna make all the colors look natural.

Just shine whatever is going to be your main light onto a white surface, then white balance it.

shoot cine d, 24p, set your master ped around -2 and leave everything else.  Get all your lights setup then white balance off a chip chart if you can get a hold of one.  Printer paper will do the trick as well.

I'd advise against using work lights unless you can bounce them off a large, white surface.  Hard light is usually very unflattering depending on the cicumstance and what the shot calls for.  Use soft light for your key/fill and hard for a backlight. 

Go to a craft store and pick up a ton of white foamcore to use for bounce.  Or, rig up a sheet to shoot the worklights through.  Just be careful that they aren't to close to the foamcore or sheet because they can potentially start a fire.

ya, use white linens for makeshift softboxes, and big pieces of foamcore for gobos.
