no, but there are many reasons why someone would kill his/herself.

being depressed (diff. from emo), recent loss of a loved one especially by suicide, living in a secluded area, low quality of life, being a teenager, or being elderly and having an illness are all risk factors. suicide rates also happen to be higher in first nations communities.
sometimes suicide can be accidental, like when a person doesn't know how to ask for help, an act that ends in death could have been a cry for help even though they didn't intend to kill themselves.

then apparently there are kids that think self-mutilation is cool or whatever. that, I don't get...

self mutilation is a cry for attention that ought to be ignored.
there are natural and synthetic drugs for anti-depression. i used to take the synthetic ones but have since moved on to natural ones, as well as counseling being available at clinics and schools almost everywhere. i'm not saying that's the solution, i'm just pointing out that there is always somebody in this world who wants to know you.
i guess that maybe some people just mess up their lives to the point that it looks like there's no solution, or maybe some people just don't think long enough about suicide before committing it. i've had past experiences where a lack of thought could have ended pretty badly if not for some outside influences.
i would hope that nobody on this website ever commits suicide.

honestly one time when i was younger when i was doing drugs and got caught up in a horribly bad acid trip where i pretty much lost my mind for 14 hours i totally compensated wether i should just shoot myself in the head with a shot gun i had access to (brutal i know) but i realized if i killed myself i would simply never get the chance to feel any better since i would be non existent. Honestly i realized that its straight retarded to end such an amazing oppurtunity over self pity. Ecspecialy after watching kids i go to school with show up in the newspaper after hanging themselfs or OD'ing on pain killers and alcohol over bad grades and relationship problems
You probaly think im dumb as fuck reading this, but really the life you live is amazing. We all fuck up some more than others but why end your life. Wouldn't you rather just go skiing. lol

to everybody joking about suicide, i'm not gonna say don't do it at all, but maybe tone it down. i joke about it sometimes, and i attempted suicide when i was younger. in most cases it's not just somebody looking for a way out or something, they have problems that are either out of control or aren't even aware of. i was bipolar and undiagnosed and was having tons of problems and ended up taking about 60 or 70 advil and tylenol. looking at it now, obviously it was a stupid thing to do, but at the time, i had tons of reasons that seemed legit to me.

in response to the op, i still do sometimes when my bipolar is on a downswing, but i have learned to deal with it.

one of my friends was cutting herself, and i knew she had family problems so i asked her about it and told her i was worried. she said that she cut herself just to relieve the pain, which i've heard is pretty common. she told me that she wouldn't ever kill herself, because she thought that if you have enough strength and willpower to actually off yourself, you've also got enough strength and willpower to get through your problems and move on. probably the simplest/most reasonable approach to suicide i've heard so far...
