Anybody going?? I haven't competed in about 4 or 5 years but I think i'll give it a go and see if I can still hang with the youngins. Would be cool if we had a big turnout. They obviously don't expect many because there's only 1 skier category. Lets prove them wrong.!
It was a semi shitshow. During practice they created an over 17 skiing category which included me and 2 other guys. After ripping out a heelpiece (second time in a week) right before my run and getting hooked up with demo Hellbents for the rest of the day, I got second and won a coat and t-shirt. Scott Rowsell got first and won a different coat, a 7 1/8 fitted hat and a S'not rag. Simon Corriveau won under 16 snowboarding category, Chris Lake won over 16 snowboarding, and thats all i can remember for results. Practice was pretty fun because there were no gapers in the park and the jumps were in good shape, but the actual 2 runs of comp weren't too fun, and no one knew when their categories were going to start.
I was up practicing on Thursday and it was super nice. Perfect and soft. Friday was bulletproof and nothing in the park was open and noone was really working on it. I assumed the comp would be cancelled...? I guess I assumed wrong.
naahh Friday afternoon they took the dory out and made a nice little table there for the kiddies, which is actually really fun. Then from like 4:30-7 we shaped the jumps and some of the rail take offs, and in the morning they did some more fine tuning on the jumps after the jumps had some time to set up, cause the snow wasn't very packable on friday as you say, anything loose was just granular.
