Well, I'm a kiteboarder so maybe I can help you out. First of all, I presume your a beginner?
Ok, personally I fell in love with North, especially the North Vegas. This is the kite I own. It's a stable kite which is very good for wakestyle/freestyle and learning new stuff. The only problem is that you need multiple kites to cover your windrange, this because it's a C-shaped kite. With bow/hybrid kites you don't have this problem...
If I were you I would start with a North Rebel or Evo, those are good beginner kites with a big windrange. This way you'll need less kites than normal which is better for your wallet and all the stuff you're carrying with you....
If you want to go for Naish, I think you should take a look at the Cult. It's an allround beginners kite. I don't know that much about Naish kites, especially the Helix ones. But since you live on Hawaï I would advice you to search a kite shop, I think there are plenty of good kiteshops on Oahu. With a bit of luck you could ask it Robby Naish himself!
Succes with your kiteboarding, it's an awesome alternative for skiing in the summer....
