 Ok so I have been snowboarding for like 8 years, and this weekend I decided that riding a pair of twin tipped skies is pretty damn cool. So i spent the weekend learning how to ski. After a few nasty wipe outs, and something close to a broken leg. I started to get the hang of the whole skiing thing. So anyway the point of this message is that i am 5 11 and like 145 pounds.

A. What size skies?

B. What type of skies that are good for a new skier who loves powder but doesn't always find it. and does anyone have any?

178 Line Anthems off the top of my head..... Semi fat(for a park oriented ski), and very playful....

Where will you be skiing? Like state/province....

Ok well I try to make it out west once a year. I love back country hiking but its a nuisance wit a snowboard. I hope to get good enough to ski back country/ deep pow. I live in the northeast though and am in college so chances are i might not get as much powder as I used too. I also will probably do a little bit of park eventually, but its not that big a deal. Love just carving and going fast.

Well i would rule the Anthem out then.

Maybe look into the Armada ARV in 175. Sort and playful, mid fat, and can ski groomers like a fucking champ!

i would say try and pick up an older pair of k2 public enemy's... really good learning ski

hey man, glad you made the choice to convert as well, i just converted this winter after 8 years of snowboarding also. As for a good starter ski, i got some 05 chronics which aren't too fat (about 80 underfoot) and stiff enough to hold a good edge carving down a mountain, but they are just a little too stiff to really have fun and butter around, i'm sure if you road them enough and hard enough they might soften up a little bit.

I'd say some blends might be a good ski to start on, wide enough for pow, and flexy enough for playing around (i don't think they are as stiff as the chronics).

as for a suggestion...

brand new 08 public enemies in a 174 for $275 + shipping and paypal fee.
