"You've Been Quoted Notification"

I would be really surprised if no one has already suggested something of this kind. but it's kinda impossible to searchbar (new verb).

Anyways i think it would insanely amazingly extreme if you got a notification, facebook style, when someone quotes your response in a thread that you have posted, so you don't have to check. because the chances are that if someone quoted you, then they are replying to something you said, or building off something you said so it may be of interest to you.

sorry if this was already suggested

How about removing my threads for good and adding the quoted notification thing instead? it would save a bunch of space, seeing as most people never check their my threads at all.

Just make the notification go away once you click a link to the quote or something.

I'll tell you what i'd like to see, a jump to on the quote --- i understand that the quote is supposed to give you all the context you need, but sometimes i'd like to know where  in the thread the quote is from

Unfortunately I have a bunch of threads I don't really care about that clutters it up... but if I Delete All I lose a lot of threads I want, especially long ongoing threads that don't get frequent replies but I want to keep track of. What would be nice is a more efficient thread deletion system, like the ability to delete multiple threads at once or something.

and to the thread creator, i disagree.

i was quoted like 20 times in the LOST thread because i said "i have never watched an episode... ever" and all those people just quoted me and left the rest blank. that would be 20 emails or notifications i really do not want.

2009 is all about convenience.  Some people have busy scheduels (not me of course) and can't check NS all day, so it would be nice to have a little email alert when you get quoted.

But you might not want to reply to it, just watch it. So you could "subscribe" - would get rid of the clutter of pages going on and on with "this thread is hilarious!", "my threds"....

I think It would be nice for my threads to have a button that views all your thrieds, so they would all go away as if you looked at them but they come back if someone else posts unlike deleting them all.

That happens anyway. And if you don't look at them, they just stay there. That's why your threads list can get so long. But otherwise, they go away when you look, come back when they've been posted in.

emopoppins already attempted to get this to happen..

I think the mods response was that it'd be too complicated when multiple people replied. You would almost  have to make a separate section for 'replied threads."

But I really do think something like a star or bubble next to the thread under 'my threads' in which you were quoted would be simple. Because even if there were multiple quotes, it wouldnt matter.

They could just change the color of the title in the my threads section when you have been quoted. kind of like how the title turns black if someone replies since that last time you logged in.

yeah haha i know how my threads works i just wanted a button that removes them all but keeps my threads watching them incase they got posted in again, but I just deleted them all from My Ns so now mythreads is all nice and tidy. (:
