You definitely have a valid point and I know halfpipe and slopestyle are both freestyle skiing disciplines and that a good pro should excel at both but I still think it's weird. I mean you wouldn't throw dirt jumps or a trials section into the middle of a downhill mountain biking course would you?

finally, ive been wanting someone to do this kind of comp. the most well rounded skier wins. I dont think every contest should be like this but its a cool concept.

park city had a comp similair to that. I actually think it's a pretty cool idea, but Jacob said that it's gay so i have now changed my mind

I thought the halfpipe idea was pretty cool, but now that I see you drop in off the guitar box, it's even sicker. I think it's sweet they are blurring the boundaries between slopestyle and halfpipe, it's not just the same format as US Open, Xgames and every other slope course where it's just rail jump, rail jump. To the guy who compared it to downhill biking, I think that comparison is problematic, since the kind of things you do in dirt jumping vs. downhill are a lot more different from each other than the tricks in halfpipe are from slopestyle. Also, some of the rock gardens on DH courses these days probably COULD be used for trials.

i think its fuckin sick!

although ive never seen a jib funnel into a pipe or anything like that, the Nippon Open in Japan has a quarterpipe hit in it.

It hink thats sick! i mean personally I fucking blow at pipe, so if i rolled up to a slopestyle with that in it, I would be intimidated, but hey, its raising the bar on what should be expected out of top-tier skiers these days.

in qualifiers today lots of people were boosting 9's with ease in the pipe, which was pretty cool to see in a slope course. at the same time, def some people here who are not as down with the lack of rails. either way it is going to be a sick final on friday!! 

there's some pics in our latest team update, and we'll have video during semis/finals on friday

That is a cool concept, why isnt there more tranny in slopestyle?
a little thing like that is cool and took a lot of money and work to make. Id be stoked if that kind of course was at my hill. There isnt enough quarterpipes in the world anymore, so this is a cool stand in I think. Makes you think creatively instead of just linearly. think about it you silly robot.

Yea, I got no problems with the pipe in there. I've wanted to see a pipe in a slopestyle course for a while now.

What I don't like about that course (based on the pictures of course, seeing how I am in Canada) is the lack of rails. a flat box at the start, and a c box at the bottom? seams pointless to even have them to me.

the point of the boxes (and the comp in general) is shameless product promotion. The on at the bottom is a huge set of goggles and the top one has Volkl and Marker all over the black things on the side that make the body of the 'guitar'. Last year I think it was at this comp, they had the volkl rice bowl with the huge chopsticks in it to promote the new CHopstick.

I've always thought about that!!! That is sick!!!! I think the Best comp ever would be a course to test everything!! A big line, into a mogul run (but with rails in the jumps),into a halfpipe, into a slopestyle course, into a quarter pipe then into a mini rail jam set-up!!
