Need ipod help.

OK so yesterday my ipod decided it was going to be a sob. It froze then told me it needed to be restarted. Restarted it and it said it needed to be reformated. Connected it to the computer and it showed up in itunes and I clicked reset and it was all done. Disconnected it and then realised all my music and vids were gone. Connected it back to the computer but it didnt come up in itunes. I have been trying all day to get it to work and still nothing.

Can anyone help me with this? And i dont want any people saying " why did you get an iPod" "iPods are shit" thats not what the thread is for.

mac or pc?

could be some ownership problem with itunes. I hate itunes so im not much help there, but maybe try deleting your profile or whatever.

also try getting a 3rd party program like yamipod (pc) or other various ones you can find on the net

Just started downloading yamipod. Is another way of managing your ipods music?

yea, i used it with macdrive to sort out my gfs ipod when it threw it's toys. maybe make a backup of your mp3s on your computer before you start mucking around. it'd blow to lose them aswell

well your first mistake was letting it sync with your computer. it's way better to have it on manual edit. that way it doesn't erase your music when you plug it into somebody else's computer.

but try looking in your hard-drive for the iTunes music data file. i'm not sure what the actually name of it is, but it's basically an index of your music. it's NOT the actual music files. but it tells the computer where they are and which ones.

but then again i could be completely wrong.
