I wonder if a lot of NS surfs...


I'm not going to lie, if I had to choose skiing everyday vs surfing everyday for the rest of my life surfing would be the top choice.
Start a surf cult?

and yeah I'd def choose surfing.  skiing is great but I just don't like the cold. (if I didn't ski I'd hate winter with a passion)

very true the cold kind of sucks, mad worth it though. but there has to be somewhere in the world where you can surf and/or ski in the same day. cali?

Oregon's got some bomb swells, but its a wetsuit region for sure.
Definitely some good skiing as well.

You can do both in minnesota, we just don't get very frequent swells and the skiing sucks here.  I wish I lived in oregon...

same week? a couple weeks ago in huntington beach i skied one day for a couple hours then woke up the next day and shred big bear. its legit. I wouldn't make LA my recommendation for ski/surf combo move BUT places more north such as mammoth then definitely. oh and ^i surf in maine too what area you near?

yea i have done it a few times, its like a 3 hour drive from the mountain to the beach, only when im desprate for a surf or a big swell heads in.

oh and to answer your question check realsurf.com its a aussie site but has a fairly good forum, alot like NS
oh and year surfing rules my life but i get paid to work on sick surf beaches so its pretty much all i do

i surf and ski in both states. my house is in maine, but i go to school in ri. in maine, i surf scarborough and higgins. i plan on surfing and skiing in the same day in the near future. i was ready to do it the day after a snow storm earlier this year. we wanted to hit some urban, then go surf because the waves weree supposed to be good, but when my friend drove down to check them out, they sucked.

i surf everyday. i live in cape cod MA and go to school in newport RI. if youre from NE check out nesurf. com forums. or if not the surf magazines have good forums like surfermag and transworld surf

From my house in LA I could drive like 45 minutes to the beach, then it would be like a 2 hour drive from there to the resort.  The resort is open till ten, so you could easily get 5 hours of both in.

wow, not used to hearing people say they wished they lived in oregon. +k to you.

but i hear you can surf and hit the slopes in the same day in San Diego. just word of mouth though, so i can't back that up.

as long as all you surfers are up in this bitch, maybe one of you can answer a question for me.

I want to buy a board, and although this may sound stupid I want a 9' softboard.  I'm a noob, I love surfing, and I'm really bony so my sternum gets horrendously bruised on a normal board.  I'm pretty deadset on this type of board, so any advice on one to get would be super appreciated.

i ride a mal on small days and its fun as hell.
i really would not recommend a softboard though, it teachesyou real bad habits like rear foot launch and what not. try a epoxy board as they are a little more floaty then a pure fibreglass board.

try dartbordsfor a cheap mal,but mayb try a thicker wetsuit im not surewhy the brusis come about but i guessits just by getting pressed by barreled waves? mayb try some mushy sand banksbeforeyou hit stuff that barrels.

thanks for the help.  its just laying on the board that does it, my sternum presses against it and over time it starts to hurt like hell.  I think a softboard is really my only option, but I'll check out epoxy boards.

I don't live near the water, I just want a relatively inexpensive soft longboard that would be better than a rental, real forgiving and floaty.  I have such a long way to go before I could ride anything shorter/less floaty anyways (I am a very weak swimmer) and I just want to get up on some waves and have fun.
