Yeah what's the deal with these countries like 'NORWAY' (where I live) saying will give moral support. Oh thanks a lot you damn Norwegians. These people are so rapped up in themselves. Ok, first things first. terrorism is an instistution that will never be destroyed. It's a horrorable reality. but there will always be ate and prejudice. Also, everytime the US has dismantled a previous government, and helped to setup a new one, an equally terrible organization. For the billion-th time, let me bring up the point that the US has funded the Taliban, and Saddam Huessain in the past.

Also, after our retalitory attacks, hatred of the United States actually increased. proving Kamikaze's point that military action, leads to increased hate and terror.

If we see violence as a viable answer, both sides will continue pushing. And terror will fight terror. Both sides will obliderate each other. I don't want this to happen.

What i propose isa change in d\iplomatic policies. Sure, you may not be able to be as wealthy, but maybe, think of the lives of people around the world.

We live in a world that ahs become jaded and crueler over the years as people have focused their minds solely on money. People in nations around the world suffer more and more, largely due to corporations which make YOUR products for next to nothing, so the CEO and such can drive his Caddy, or Ferrari, for nothing more then a mere status symbol. This is the reason the US is hated. If we can put some thought into people's situations around the globe, maybe we can not be hated as a nation, as much.

Of course hatred towards the US goes up when we bomb someone. That is common sense and why it need not be said.

In my mind the only way we are going to peacefully co-exist with the middle east is when the US can come up with a viable alternative fuel source. This way we don't have to depend on them for oil and we can stay the hell out of their and hopefully stop sending so much financial aid. The US has to start looking out for itself because we give money to countries and then we get shit on.

Also, just because we may have mroe freedoms in the United States, why do you ocnsider it wrong to demand a better life? What is so wrong with trying to better the lives of people around the world?

I agree, we are better off then many places around te world, but i don't see anything wrong with wanting and demanding more.

There are plently of alternative fuel sources that work well. Hell, there is even chiken fat as an energy souce. But, we will never use these energy forms because it isn't cheap like oil.

And as much as you may want to disagree, the government does see you as dispensible. As long as they have money, and are getting rich, they personally don't care who dies.

Yes currently the US is an Oil whore but this is changing. Alternative fuel sources are being developed and put into use slowly but surely. What happens with decision on drilling in Alaska will have a big impact on this.

Thanks Stevie for backing me up. I don't have much to say right now, but I will say this. You're right, dspin7x- to defeat terrorism we're going to have to kill 'every last one of them.' Let's see, so we kill everyone in Afghanistan, that should take care of it... but wait, then the rest of the Islamic world will hate us even more, then they will be the terrorists.... so we'll take out ALL the Muslims, that should do it.... wait, except then most of the nations in the world will hate us for eradicating an entire religion, so we've got to deal with them too.....

Don't get me wrong- I don't hate America at all. Several times on this site I have stood in firm support of our government and all that it stands for here. All I am saying is, just watch- bombing Afghanistan, dis-arming and scattering the Taliban, ousting Saddam, none of this is going to STOP terrorism. Put a temporary halt on it, maybe. But NOT stop it. The circle of violence will continue. We haven't even done that much harm to the Taliban- the same month that the coalition abandons Afghanistan, they will be back in control. And even if we DID kill every last Muslim extremist, we'll just create a thousand martyrs for twice that many people to emulate. I'm not saying that we should sit back and let them blow us all to hell. What I imply is that violence begets violence, and that is always the way it will be. Maybe it's unstoppable, I don't know. In that case, I guess people will just keep on dying.

It's not unkown how much oil exists up there. However the amount only adds up to about 2% of what we take from the middle east so there is not point. It wont make us independant of foreign oil, the oil cartels can still set the prices, the environment will be affected, it wont be fully operational for 20 years and the money used to set up the whole thing would be better spent on development and implementation of alternative fuel sources.

the only thing im sick and tired of is how the US is becoming a world domiantor, everyone looks to the US to solve the worlds problems, why should one country have so much power. The U.N and NATO should be solving the problems of the middle east and organzing ways to stop terrorism. Will the whole world be ruled by the US one day, i say share the power

Your all shitheads. Not all islamics support the Taliban. There are
many forms of Islam and this is an extreme form which frequently misinterpretes
the Koran. It's the middle-eastern equivolant of the Nation of Islam. Also, the
government is doing the right thing by not bombing Afghanistan. The Terrorist
Network's main goal is to take over the governmetns of the middle-east. In history
the foundation of revolution depends upon the support of the majority of people.
It is ultimatly the support of the people that give a revolution it's momentum.
Look back at the French and Cuban revolutions. Now if you remember back when
Clinton was in office an American Embassy was bombed in Africa by the terrorist
network. This pissed Clinton off and he sent 70 bombs over to Afghanistan to be
dropped. The military dropped bombs on 'suspected' areas. One of these areas
was a pharmacutical plant. The killed al least 100 innocent people with that bomb
alone. This pissed people off and made them angry at the states, exactly the kind
of reaction the network needs to gain public support. The whole idea of september
11th was to trick the americans into bombing the middle east to shit. Think about
it, and african embassy and like 7 dead americans gets you 70 bombs, 2 land
marks in NYC and thousands of dead Americans gets you how many?? The network
assumed Bush would bomb the shit out of the middle east, thus killing thousands
of innocent people and creating a strong anti-american feeling. This would than rally
the people behind the network against the pro American governments perhaps giving
the network the momentum it needs to take over. Bush is lucky and has excellent
advisors who now their shit because of the golf war. And it is because of this that
the Americans have done the right thing. So go ahead and bomb the middle east,
do what the terrorists want. It is a complicated situation but the answer is not bombing
the middle east.

Yeah he says it's right for the President to not bomb Afghanistan but we already have bombed Afghanistan due to Sept. 11th.

the amount of fuel that is going to be acquired by drilling in alaska isn't going to even cover the costs of setting up all the drilling. this is how smart prez bush is. as for alternative energy sources, an ex-daimler chrysler employee developed a working fuel cell car that's emissions were steam, and who's water tank only needed to be filled every few weeks.. but what happened when he took it around to EVERY major american automobile manufacturer, it was turned down because it would lower profits indefinitely.

ps - i don't think that i would want nato solving all of the worlds problems, it's nothing more than a front for wealthy tycoons to make mooooooore money.. yay!

Yeah Afghanistan has been bombed but not very heavily, it's been very well controlled.

How is my reasoning convuluted?

Mostly it was that thing about how we've done the right thing not bombing Afghanistan, except that we already have. But anyway! I like this energy discussion, I think that the U.S. would be able to keep our fingers out of Middle Eastern affairs if we didn't rely so much on the region for oil... that steam-emission engine sounds awesome, I wish that some of these people would start getting the future of humanity into their heads instead of always profit profit profit.

the problem is that for the most part, people are shortsighted, and all these executives can't see past their lifetimes of money that comes from profits. it's unlikely that the change over to alternative energy-sourced cars will effect the environment in our lifetime, but it would obviously benefit the next generations.
