that ones so sick, and funny cuz its from my home town nova scotia! i recognize that guy from my local shit hill wentworth

emphasize the "hill" part its like 300m tall

anyways back to what the threds about, i have this slippery plastic shit thats fast as hell would that be better for a drop then switch to turf for the jump to box, or just all turf cuz im affraid of when i hit the turf part i get a randon slow down that hits like a wall

Ridiculous

I'm working on summer drop-in in my backyard right now.. and i'd like someones advice on how long to make my transition? speeds not going to be a problem, i just don't want too short of a transition because my skis need to be able to fit.
Any advice?

Trial and error my friend, i front flipped off of mine three times before i had the tranisition dialed in. you have to sack up and try it

heres what i started with...

next, we built the decking...

after that, covered it all with plywood...

after that, i turfed the whole thing (i bought 2 6x8 rugs of turf for $15 each at my local home depot) and had of plenty turn left over

next, i snow fenced the drop and first half of the tranny... this increased my speed by a LOT! use snow fence!!!! and yes, i put it over the turf. i find that the turf actually helps give you a little more control sense snow fence is very slippery.

full set up with shotgun rail

the deck is 5'8 tall. i turfed the decking to make it easier to drop in, and i had a lot of extra turf. the drop in is 8 feet long and comes 1 foot off the ground where it meets the first part of the tranny. the transition is two pieces, both 4 feet long (totaling in an 8 foot tranny). one is angled and the next is flat. this makes for a super smooth transition. from there, the take off ramp is 2 feet long and comes 14" off the ground. it works unbelievably well and the snow fence makes it so much more faster. if you have any further questions, PM me. id love to help anybody out whos thinking of building one of these. they are totally worth it!

its just the angle i took the pic from. its 2 feet long and 14 inches high. its not mellow, but its not steep. its nice cause it gives you good pop.

not for a summer set up, but for urban. with a summer set up you would need a long inrun, which takes up space and you need a lot of turf/carpet, thus its just easier you build a 6-8 foot drop in

This thing is insane and I can't wait for it to be done. We're building it at a friends house but I basically built the whole thing and they helped hold the boards. I drew up designs for this before I even started so if anyone is looking to build something similar I could send you some rough designs.

well it's about 15 feet long from the back to front. the flats is about three feet and since the lip isn't very steep or big i figured i didn't need a super long flat.

as far as like wobbling back and force its a tank and doesn't move. but since we used 8 foot cross beams, those wobble a lot and they are goign to need more support

I am building the sketchiest thing right now. It's 2 old like coat racks that I am using as the frame. I'm not gonna lie, it's probably the sketchiest thing in the world, but it's gonna be sturdy. It's going to be for winter. I need to put a railing or something on the one side haha. No pics yet.
